DavidL,
I'm just skeptical about being able to detect all visible flaws, while sitting upright on an A-Frame. Some flaws hide rather well in certain materials... I Suppose you just have to know what materials to take an extra look at... Thanks for the post David!

Re: Slabsmith users
Seen this thread and had a quick Question... How well does Slabsmith detect flaws running through slabs? Are you having to lay slabs flat, and mark flaws with tape before inventorying the slab in Slabsmith?

Re: How to scale a .dxf
Nick,
If you come across another job like that in 3/8" scale, use a coefficient of 2.66667
3/8 X 2 2/3 (2.66666) = 1

Re: How to scale a .dxf
Hey Nick I've gotta assume your using Easystone from everybody's responses.... So if your in Easystone and your .dxf is in mm and you want inches... Do a select all.... then click elaborate tab... Then Click Scale..... It'll ask for a Central point and this point can be anywhere... just click an end...

Re: finger bits
Yup, a little wobble in that bit from being loose will strip that cone for sure..... How slow were you actually going?

Re: finger bits
I was under the impression that the design of the spindle rotation, and threading on the cones, was suppose to prevent your finger bits from loosening like that... Unless of course your going to slow, getting glazed and not cutting, aka what clhilde did...?

Re: Question #1 from a newbie about Suction Pods
Lord Preston..... First things first, make sure you already have a couple 40mm (1 1/2") by 300mm (12") rectangle pods for your sink rails...That's priority!!! Otherwise like these guys said, buy bigger for the better and your 200mm and 130mm pods are for everything in between. I also have to recomme...

Re: Stubbing wheel in sinks?
If you believe its your stubbing wheel that’s causing these fissures.... I'd recommend stubbing the sink before you cut it out and your problem will be solved... I stub anywhere with an overhang and the entire flange of the sink before I run anything... This is so I have an outline of the piece I’m ...

Re: How do you lock the spindle on a CMS brembana
My experience with error "tool holder clamp not locked" has always been a loose collet that needed tightening... Make sure your taking that finger collet out once a month and greasing it... To much friction up there can accelerate wear inside of your spindle shaft and mess up how the collet grabs th...

Re: Pental Glass2
Thanks Eric and yes I will be using CNC tooling. We were also told to lay plywood down on the bridge saw and make sure the slab was completely flat... Doing a Raised bar for the customer and its Definitely not going to be straight shots.. Edge wise I believe shes leaning towards Bullnose... When you...

Pental Glass2
Just recently received a 3cm slab of Pental's Glass2... Never worked with the stuff before, curious if anyone else has? Brochure that came with the slab tells me not to use segmented tools and to start a profile with Diamond 2. I'll get a chance to demo a piece before the job but uncertain how I'm g...

Best supplier for re-dressing tools?
Need to send a set of Z profiles out to get re-dressed, does anyone know of a supplier who has a 1 week turnaround? Slowly but surely getting 2 sets of all profiles but the Zs are not one of them. I've also got a set of 3cm BN and 3cm OGEE that need to go out, so if there’s any tool suppliers that w...

Re: 2nd dumb question
I was thinking about making one of these for our conference table center piece and I cant imagine all of your profiles are CNC. I'd put a Raked, Chiseled and Square Edge on it and thats three edges your CNC wouldn't need to touch. Might have to make it a decagon but Just a thought!

Re: Variance in slab thickness
So your sayin your 3cm slabs are under an 1" thick in areas? We've had thin 3cm Slabs before but never under an inch! Time Consuming..... but if your supplier gives you the run around you can always even them out! 3cm Ogee Edge wont look right on 15/16" though. This is getting to be a regular thing....

Re: 2nd dumb question
Thats a tough one but if you have a couple fences from blick you might be able to do one side at a time rotating those fences as you go! If i was doing it, I’d shoot for 7" flats on the octagon! That way I'd get 1 200x200 and 2 70x150 under it along with those fences to stop it from pushing! Most im...
