I have had this piece of petrified wood since 78, Been hauling it around where ever I moved too and just putting it in the yard out there with the rest of my rocks I have picked up. My 308 prefers the 150 grain barnes x bullets and they do tend to do enough damage the deer don't go far. And now I see the new barnes bullets are polymer tipped as well. I might try the 168 grain round and see how far it can reach out there, nothing over 400 yards mind you, but fun to shoot for acc...

Soft points are nice, I am partial to the solid copper bullets like a Barnes X type for my hunting needs.
They have always done the job for me. Might try some ballistic tips next time I am
home on a few prairie dogs.
