Re: Please help! Seam placed down center of peninsula AND center of sink!
Some interesting differences of approach to discussing seam placement with customers. "He also said the templater never talked about seam placement because they are trained/forbidden from doing so." This is the opposite of what we do. The measurer has slab sizes on his paperwork so he is able to det...

Re: How does the scam work?
As long as we're talking scams; On craigslist and facebook I see listings for ridiculous prices, most recently a JD 6 wheel Gator worth something well in excess of $6000 for $1800. they want name address and email. what is the value of that info for them ? thx to anyone providing insight. Personally...

"Do they still work for you?"
yea; VERY luckily I had the screen from the proedge I had scrapped previously. Every time I do a safety meeting and talk about no horseplay I mention "... and you might trash a $4000 touch screen."
it's pretty effective.

Park Industries ProEdge Splash Fixtures & other for sale
I am retiring a Park ProEdge III. It needs a mitre arm and the replacement cost of the arm is nearly as much as the machine is worth so my intention is to scrap it. The machine is fully operational so controls and hydraulics are all 100% operational . If you want the whole machine make me an offer. ...

Re: Park Yukon Saw $28k
Not sure. what differentiates the II? I looked up the specs and couldn't find any difference beyond the paint job. It has been a good saw for us. our best years have been nearly $3 million in sales and it was all sawn on this saw.

Re: Shop Cleanup Program?
As part of our silica mitigation program we instituted washdowns at the end and beginning of each day. The morning washdown gets whatever areas weren't washed clean the nite before as evidenced by the chalky residue. You might also check your lighting. Poorly lit areas like corners or behind machine...

Re: Breton vs Park Industries
I saw a Thibaut in operation and was very impressed. Additionally, here in St. Cloud there is a large monument business that has several Thibaut machines and they are very happy with the performance and support. I got a lot more interested in the Thibaut after visiting them. The jig saw works very w...

Re: Breton vs Park Industries
I have recently looked at Breton and have considerable experience as an existing Park customers. For service my expectation is that almost any problem can be diagnosed remotely and I can have a part the next day. I believe this would be true for both companies for the vast majority of problems. The ...

Re: How many installers & fabricators do I need
Join the forum. Worth every penny. For 100 sq. ft. per day one install crew can easily handle that; if your service area is small you could install 3 days per week and have the installers available to the shop the other two. One of them could be your field measure guy. For shop equipment it depends ...

Re: 5 Axis saw recommendations
I just spent considerable time researching this. Here are some attributes I found important: All have a 5 axis motion with an arrangement to to use a step cutting bit for inside corners. This bit can also be used to cut out sinks but it is slow; taking an estimated 40 minutes for a typical 2 bowl ki...

get the measurements from someone with the same saw and draw up a sketch. any metal fab shop should be able to easily make you what you need. you could also just measure the inside dims of the pocket and get stops made to fit.
the stops on my saw are solid metal.

Re: 2001 MACSYSTEM ALVIN cnc help!
I am an electrical engineer with about 40 years experience and I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. It's highly unlikely you'd ever get it to work. Park Industries 1st CNC attempt was a PC based abortion that they quickly abandoned and went to a true CNC controller based control architecture. Th...

Re: 2007 helios 3003 cnc router
On an older machine your concern needs to focus on the sustainability of the controls and the operator interface which is typically PC based. Your best bet would be to arrange an inspection/repair by a qualified tech. Assuming he can get the machine operating correctly you still have to deal with th...

Re: Seams on white quartz
IMHO those are not bad. not great but not horrible. Color matching white tops is difficult. you can probably improve things by ordering a seam adhesive specifically color matched to the quartz color. several adhesive vendors have specific colors for various quartz colors. Dig out the top of the exis...

Re: Waste
My numbers are much like Dave's. Since we went to a substantial in house inventory and we have a handful of colors that are high volume we use 20% waste for typical natural stone and 27% for stone that has movement. These percentages are built into our bidding tool. We don't break out quartz as it i...
