I have had very good luck using ADI's MFP5 oscillating to reduce linear lines. You need to keep your tools dressed and maintained for best results. You want therm to take off as little as possible.

What are the specific problems with the cut? If the c axis is not set dead perpendicular, the blade will drag. Is the kerf wider and blade paint wearing unevenly? they took off the spindle speed knob after your vintage and before mine. Too many people destroyed tools with that knob. it can be dangerous. The function is still there, but it is kinda hidden in the Fanuc Keys that no one seems to ever use.

below the jog key on the Fanuc's you will see 2 keys with a + and a - on them. These will drop your spindle speed while working.
