Re: End of an Era
Mark, Thanks for everything you've done for the industry. I'll never remember meeting you -- it was a hotel in Orlando and we were brand new to stone. You entertained and educated my brother and I for an hour -- got us excited and pumped up about the stone industry. That and your stories of you push...

Re: Slab Delicatus Granite Problem
Pictures of the entire kitchen would help show the full picture. It's certainly within "industry standards." It sounds like it is not up to expectations -- if it was discussed in detail then it's up for debate. Did he show pictures of other work, etc? A mitered edge would have been the way to hide t...

Re: Hello from China
I notice that GMC van is pimped out -- are full size vans very desirable in China? Do they have Cadillac Escaladaes or Lincoln Navigators in China?

And -- it's customary on this site to post your name and location so we get to know each other better. There might be someone near by that you could go visit to get help learning to top polish. I see now you're from OK -- nevermind the location part... :) You might want to check the locator to see w...

Re: cracked uba tuba piece
If it's a tiny crack you might want to use Super Glue (CA) and the accelerator spray to instantly harden the glue. It's water thin and dries instantly. You then use razor blades to shave the dried glue until smooth -- don't scrape the glue off because it will all come out -- just shave the glue with...

SB VRM -- quick and easy
I've tried the new SB VRM. The standard SB is "thin" and requires multiple applications on extremely porous stones to fully prepare the stone for the final coat of FE (which gives the protectant a lifetime warranty). SB VRM -- I called it SB "thick" doesn't feel any thicker -- but it is making my li...

Re: Does metal rods creates crack along the sink or .....
If the sink cabinet has "sunk" 5/16" I'd say that's your problem. A sink rail will crack if it is not supported -- rod or no rod. Rods just keep it in place so that a repair is easier. We don't rod, but we handle very carefully and pay very close attention to proper support. Knock on wood -- no prob...

Re: Royal White??
How many coats of SB would be required before hitting that stone with FE? I have a light colored stone -- I've put 3 flood-coats of SB on (different days) -- waited 45 minutes for it to soak it all up each time -- going today to see if it's ready for FE. I remember Briggs saying he had a light stone...

Re: HD: "It Can't Be Done"
If that's a load bearing column, then how did they install a one piece laminate bartop?? We'd do it with one seam without much problem -- the inside might be polished ears instead of seamed countertop -- we did one where the column was wider and we brought the backsplash up to counter height for the...
