Re: on site honing of absolute black
Breaking through the polish is the hardest, most fatiguing step. You want to keep the steps to a minimum, so starting at the highest grit, while having good cutting efficiency is the key. Luckily, Black Absolute is soft. I would recommend something like a 120 grit copper bond, or copper hybrid pad ...

All stained but where seam and dw are?
Hello again, Juparana type stone been in since 2004-ish. The stone is uniformly darker in most areas that can be seen/used. Areas where it is it's more natural color are in back corners, under appliances and 'stuff' on the counters. Also there is a strip of 'clean' stone where the epoxy was applied ...

Re: heat/cold and uv abuse on joints
Well for some reason I haven't been getting my email notifications for all your responses, thanks! I sealed the stone last week as they decided to hold on the joint work until after Labor Day when less guest traffic and not too cold to open the doors and vent the lobby while I do the work. So.... I ...

Pieces are about a foot deep and 3-4' long each. ...

Thanks everyone. I appreciate your input, all was right in line with my own thoughts, with some new info. Taking the stone out of the house tomorrow. Won't be honing for a little while, need to reconfigure cabinets etc. I'll post some pics when I'm done and let you know what I did for a process. Hop...

Re: stains under Ager?
Thanks for the insights. My first thought was that it was in the stone too....but why not visible for a month? Silicone is a possibility, dirty rag, noticed afterward, surfaced cleaned and left....then it shows up later? Possible. If it wasn't Ager then it would be StoneTech color enhancer, (I know ...

Hi all, thanks in advance for any insights you may have. Here's the history from the homeowner. 7 year old absolute black with leathered finish. Installed and not sealed. Spots started appearing on one section only about a month after installation. Fabricator's solution when called to address was in...
