Re: cnc tooling comparison
Hey Guys, What sort of tool life are you seeing on the EHS tools? For example, for our ADI T30 set, we are seeing 4000 LnFt typical before redress. Or is the idea of the EHS not about tool life and $/LnFt and more about reducing cycle time to minimum without regard to tooling cost (LnFt/min)? I know...

Re: Cutting on Pods
I can see smaller shops going from manual to multi-function cnc's for sure. I can't see the same for high production shops. Pro photographers still use dedicated SLR's because they're better/faster/more suited for the task. I'd love to hear feedback from the machine manufacturers on productivity num...

I would highly recommend you revisit cnc routers. I am sorry to hear about your bad experience with Intermac. All I can say is that we are in Canada but the border has not stopped Park from providing us with excellent service. Typical time to return a call from tech support of 1-3 hours same day. Re...

Re: Breton Vs Northwood
650 to 800 sq m is gotta be about 1500 to 1900 sq ft. Thats quite an operation. You must have about 7-10 full time polishers? With that kind of production, you should seriously consider a CNC router (Park Titan, Breton NC300, Northwood EDS router, etc). We have a Park Titan router and have been able...

They want you to quote the job for pickup, then to get you to get a quote for shipping from their own shipping company - of course they won't tell you it's their shipping company - then they will want to pay you for the goods plus the shipping via stolen credit card which will go through. Then they ...

Hello Andrew,
Can you tell me which tools you are oscillating? What improvements have you seen? Better tool life, more even wear or better polish?

Re: Best Sealer for Carrera Marble Countertops
Lots of great tips here from everyone. Just one thing to look out for is that your step 5 'wipe off with dry towel' should be more like 'buff dry with lots of paper towel until you can't feel anymore sealer on the surface'. It is very important that you don't leave any excess sealer on the surface s...

Re: why are my oscillated eased tools pausing in z
I think it depends if your oscillation is based on Fanuc (or hardware based) or if it is based on Alphacam's software oscillation. I have seen this issue with Alphacam's software oscillation. Since Alphacam's software oscillation is basically taking your toolpaths and chopping them up into tiny segm...

Re: Bar Code - Inventory System
Yes, I print them from the Purchase Order "Print Labels". I setup the label template as pages of 4" by 0.75" with zero margin and have it print out the product variant name and the serial as a number and as a barcode. Since page size is 1 label, moraware will generate a pdf with 1 label per page and...

Re: Bar Code - Inventory System
We are using the Zebra GK420t thermal transfer printer with the 5095 performance resin ribbon. If the pricing isn't too different you can opt for the 5100 premium resin ribbon - apparently more resistant. We print on 4" wide rolls on some sort of white plastic media. We are in the process of finding...

Re: Bar Code - Inventory System
I use the moraware jobtracker software to create the barcodes (you have to create a custom printable tag with a barcode field). As for printing the barcode slab tags, we looked at quite a few options and settled on a thermal transfer printer on "plastic" tag stock. A cheaper way would be to use a la...

Re: Bar Code - Inventory System
Although it is not readily explained, moraware does work with barcoding out of the box using an iphone/ipad and a Bluetooth barcode scanner. Something like the motorola cs3070. The Bluetooth barcode scanner acts as a bluetooth keyboard that keys in the serial when you scan a barcode using their web ...

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune.
Is there something that can be done to avoid lightning stike damage? I just spoke to an electrician friend of mine and he said he hasn't heard of cnc's being fried due to lightning before.

Fully wet shop. No issues. x4 When we do have to cut it dry for some reason or if the bridge saw operators (wet) are cutting more than a few slabs, they all have their own respirators. We use these with P100 multi contaminant cartridges: http://www.honeywellsafety.com/Products/Respiratory_Protectio...

Re: Park Destiny
Park techs ave very knowledgable. I would call them back. A few ideas: Ask them to reload (reprogram) the plc and to check that the spindle power parameters are set correctly. Check the power cable between the drive module and spindle. Also check that the cable inside the connector on the spindle si...

Re: cleaning up files from lt55
When editing lt55 files, I would recommend to turn on measured points which will display 'x' for every point shot. Many times our templators will filet a corner but will filet the wrong segment. This error will be obvious with the display contiguous breaks as mentioned previously. If it is a softwar...

Re: Antique Brown Seams - Slight Chipping and Epoxy
Slightly off topic, but I once had a customer come back asking why we didn't 'color-match' the seam. I replied and said we always color match. He replies "then why is it all the same color??" He then explained to me that he expected the seam color to be colored 3 or 4 different colors based on the c...

Re: CNC Core bit question
Recently we burned through 5 core bits in 5 days. Then we checked the water running through the spindle (not to be confused with the 'halo' water) and it was very low (about 1 gpm) instead of the required 5 gpm. We changed the water filter, checked flow, and bits are lasting again.

Just re-read original post and see that you are dealing with traditional face fireplace. Our issue was with an open concept fire pit style.
