Re: I would really appreciate any advice about my countertop.
I will echo the sentiments above. Looks like a modern design, with minimal overhang over overlay doors. I believe the sink is in the correct place. Looks like you have a large sink for the cabinet, a sink that accommodates accessories by being extra deep. The faucet was the wrong choice for this con...

Re: Can't get blade tight on spindle
that looks like the blade wasn't tight enough while the machine was trying to cut, the blade bound up, and spindle kept spining, generating enough heat to create deposits like spot welds. It happened to me before, we had a machinist come and grind it off..

Re: 5 axis incremental bit
....Vinny, then take the blade off. I have NEVER used my incremental tool with the blade on. On the Park Saber it takes less than 60 seconds to switch from blade to bit. i dont imagine its much different on an OMAG. How many sinks/slabs a day are you trying to get through that saw? Is your saw runn...

Re: 5 axis incremental bit
Another approach: rather than trying to get the whole over cut, just mill the radius, cut the straights with the blade, use a handsaw to free the piece, and just deal with the blowout in the corners.

Re: Omag Digitale 5
you have to increase the feed rate... The amount of material you're trying to take is too much for most cnc tools. Even a stubbing wheel shouldn't take more than .06". i would try .02 at 120ipm and dial it down. I think you'll minimize the blow out, but not eliminate it. Bottom line is that incremen...

Re: Omag Digitale 5
That’s too much per pass. Try taking .02” per pass. And increase feed rate. See what happens.

Re: Omag Digitale 5
how much are you taking per pass? are you cutting in one or two directions? as mentioned before, incremental bit cutting sucks, and blowouts are to be expected. Everyone buy cnc saws expecting great production cutting sinks but its impossible.

Hi David,
As matt said a gang saw will yield more slabs, but it takes a week to cut hard quartzite like that. Let me know if you need someone to mill/fabricate the tub for you. We specialize in cubic work.

The reality is there's thousands of members, but only a small percentage are active. The work pictured is dogshit at any price point. Whoever did it is a hack. SFA member or not. Hopefully you get your money back or replacement.

that material is nothing but trouble, if it does that, it will be a nightmare in the house. we've gone through many bundles of the stuff, and much if it was very problematic.

^^^This, unless you bought the material from the company that recommended "tube adhesives". If you do it yourself, use thin-set.dustinbraudway wrote: ↑Sat Mar 14, 2020 6:07 amWhy would you not just hire the company that cut the stone for you to install it?

Re: Taj Mahal Quartzite -etching and lines
That is typical of that stone. The fill can be removed and re-done. Most stones come out of the earth with holes that need to be filled. They're filled by the factory that makes the slab. Not a defect, and totally normal. Sounds like you have a good fabricator who's willing to work on making you hap...

I went on this trip about 7 years ago, we were a small shop with little more than a manual bridge saw and no inventory. Because of the people I met on this trip (and the SFA) we've been able to grow to a fully automated shop, have grown over 400% in those 7 years, opened a distribution company, and ...
