I would say that's not normal. That might have been a part of your old counter top but with your new configuration that fiber board serves no apparent purpose. From what is visible in these pictures, that wood should be removed.

The people we use now put out an excellent product but have a typical lead time of 6 weeks and they are unable to build by our dxf. drawings. Are you able to build tops from digital drawing files?

I used to do a lot of hand fabbed inside corners and got pretty good at it. Think about more than where your stopping your polisher/ pad. Really consider where pressure is applied and where the pad is really cutting into the stone. A lot of times on inside radius, you'll see the edge of your pad in ...
