S.O.S Gritty/Sandy Granite
Good afternoon, We recently bought a bad level A bundle. At every installation the clients are complaining about the material being sandy. We clean it and seal it and then within minuets it is sandy again. It's not resin filled and we bought it under the name Verona....but we all know how names are ...

Re: Granite seam quality
Wow. This wouldn't fly in our shop. As we have built a name providing custom work. And try to make seams visually seamless. With that said we're always limited by the material pattern, slab quantity, kitchen layout and deal made. Not all shops sell the layout or spend much thought or time on it but ...

The big dogs are paving the way...
There are plenty of nationally recognized quartz companies that will remain unaffected. We're still riding the quartz wave.

Re: Employee - No Show
Go to your local Craigslist and look for stone jobs. There are plenty. Why? Because they suck. Low pay, no benefits, etc. When you're offering a career, a job where if an employee were to become a son-in-law it wouldn't be a bad thing because your daughter had a husband with a future and an ability...

Re: Employee - No Show
Thanks for all the advice. I want to create a strong team/family but it seems we often get divided. Office vs. Installers vs. Fab Shop. We've had heavy turn over with the lower/entry positions. Which I know is apart of the industry. This work is not for everyone. I have asked that everyone call or t...

Employee - No Show
Hi All, So we're all in a unique industry...that's why I'm reaching out here on this issue. In my case this means that I heavily rely on each person I employ. There is no TEAM B. There is no back up. There is no HR department and quick replacement. I don't have time to rework the install or producti...

Re: Extreme Discoloration (Help!)
So far I had not been convince that it was wet because I can't dry it out with all the speed methods tried. But we let water sit on the lighter side and it did darken up, proven it is saturated. I'm glad we seamed the piece now or we would have sealed it on install and it would have taken taken long...

Re: Extreme Discoloration (Help!)
No color enhancer.
No sealer, yet.
But it does have a thick fiber glass backing which could slow the process but we have let it breath for 3 days.
Thank you for all the trouble shooting.

No sun.
We used a torch in spots. No luck.
I will try a hair dryer and time. The home owner needs to see that it will lighten up.
Thank you.

Extreme Discoloration (Help!)
Hi All, Please see pictures. We were able to cut this quartzite job without a seam but needed to seam it to itself for installation purpose only. Upon installing we noticed an extreme discoloration between the two pieces (originally from the exact same cut) that is unexplainable. We are baffled and ...
