Re: START UP BUSINESS
I was in your shoes a few years ago and bought a laser and router almost at the same time. Over cut rectangles on the bridge saw and feed them to your cnc router. This set up should get you 10-15 kitchens per week and running a second shift will definitely get you the volume you want with room to g...

Re: Granite seam quality
I spin the right piece 180 and done beautiful colormatch. If you got it for a deal out of scrap yard then you could have had some issue somewhere. [ Even not out of the scrap yard, those legs could be different sizes. It could have been 1/8" off of one of those legs there was a flaw and they HAD to...

Re: Granite seam quality
You ever heard of a square and a straight edge/level? [ No i understand how you can check. But you said tape measurements only. Which makes me think they go in there with a tape and measure each dimension. And cut it square to that. For instance a parallelogram has the same dimension at the front a...

Re: Granite seam quality
TAPE MEASUREMENTS!? I mean we do physical templates don't get me wrong, it's not laser templating, but ONLY doing tape measurements!? Yeah that's fishy. [ And what exactly do you find fishy about a tape measurement? Lol [ How do you check if the wall are out of square or askew. Measurements tell on...

Re: Granite seam quality
Can members please comment on this seam color match quality in the two pictures provided. Please use a scale of 1~10 with 10 being very bad and 1~3 being acceptable. I would appreciate the comments. It is easy to see that if either piece had been rotated 180 degrees a decent color match would have ...

I am going to try the poultice. please tell me how does one reseal? Can I do that myself? or is that done by the installer? Re: Can't find a competent fabricator for the life of me
+1 for Dan and Jeff on letting the fabricator do what he's trained to do. There could even be flaws in the stone that could be problematic during fabrication that you're not aware of that a fabricator would see which they have to work around. This affects yield.

I'm gonna assume you're a homeowner because it wasn't specified so I'm sorry if I'm wrong about this. You have to remember with natural stone there are going to be "flaws" and defects. There is a lot to this that we don't have information on. Such as how much material was included in the quote which...

Re: Having trouble with "non-difficult stones"
On top of polishing in the house looking a little unprofessional, new VA OSHA Code forbids any stone fabrication inside of a house, wet or dry even with proper ventilation. Routing sinks with a Fab King
Hello Everyone, Has anyone had any trouble with blowouts with a routing technique of sink cutouts. We use a Rye Corp Fab King. My fabricators don't turn it very quickly. They do quarter turn at a time which barely moves the router 1/16 of an inch at a time. However we have an usually high rate of bl...

Having trouble with "non-difficult stones"
Hello, I'm very new to the forum so I apologize if I do anything strangely. My family owns a countertop company. We have been in business for 40 years and are a multi-million dollar company. A few years ago I convinced everyone we needed to get into stone work. Being a laminate and solid surface (co...
