Can someone explain 3 Step polishing pads?
I am curious to the technology behind 3 step polishing pads and how they work. Usually you polish with 50-100-200-400-800-1500-3000-Buff This makes perfect sense to me because, like sand paper, each diamond is a different grit and the pad contains all the size of one grit. How does a 3 step pad work...

Re: Luna Pearl Problem
He used Tenex TeClean, taped it on for 24 hours, then came and removed it. It didnt take the stain out, but lightened it.
Maybe another round of TeClean?

Luna Pearl Problem
I am trying to help a customer out with a "issue" with Luna Peal. He installed it and everything seemed fine. Now the homeowner is complaining of stains. I confirmed with him that he sealed it with Tiger Ager from Tenex. Not sure why you would seal it with that? Form the sounds of it, it is oil that...

Resining slabs
Just received some 3cm Giallo Ornamental slabs that didnt get resin applied to them before polishing. I believe they did this so the color would be lighter and not darken to a more brownish shade. The problem is the slabs have what appears to be pits or spidery veins where parts of the crystals have...

Re: Tolerence on slab thickness difference
Jason, I have had this happen numerous times, and every time I have given full credit back to the fabricator. The last thing I want is people walking around our warehouse with calipers and 8' levels! No one can reasonably expect someone to check the middle of the slab for thickness before cutting! I...

Re: Tolerence on slab thickness difference
Thanks for the info everyone! I thought that 1/8" was withing the tolerance that the MIA established, but we are dealing with people, and not a spec sheet. I wish they would slow down on cutting and get them a little more accurately cut in the gang saws. I had the customer return the slabs and gave ...

Tolerence on slab thickness difference
I was wondering what the thickness difference from slab to slab that is tolerable or acceptable? Is there an industry standard? I had a fabricator irate over a 1/8" difference from one slab to the next. I assumed that 1/8" difference from slab to slab is acceptable, but started to wonder what is too...

I know of a fabricator in Dallas/Fort Worth who is looking to add a few salesman. Salesman only need to measure, quote, go with customer to select material, and close the deal. He is an honest guy who is getting more phone calls from homeowners than he can currently handle. I know it is the busy sea...

Re: How to get rid of these circles?
I will give it a try.
Any more suggestions?
I think they picked it up before the resin had cured. That is an uneducated guess. The circles dont go through to the back of the stone, but you cannot feel them either.
Lets see what will happen.

How to get rid of these circles?
I have a slab that a fabricator's customer of mine fell in love with. This slab has been in our warehouse for 6 years, due to the fact that it has 15 circles. It appears to be from the suction cups. The fabricator say it and "thinks" he can use ager on it to make it go away. Take a look and is there...

What do fabricators prefer?
I work for a slab supplier, and have worked in both showroom sales and outside sales. The question that constantly comes up when helping a homeowner is "how much more is this?" TO give you an example: Fabricator 1 sends homeowner in to select their 3cm slabs of Verde Ubatuba. Customer comes in and s...

Titan Cones Rusting after 3 months???
I have a customer with a 3 yr old Park Titan (1016). He has a WTT filter system and for some reason the cones, bits, and his Titan are rusting like crazy! From talking to him, he says he test the water going into (Tap water) and the pH is normal. When it goes through his filter system, the pH goes t...
