You've got to be kidding me. I've been waiting for the next workshop and the local Home Show is the same days. Maybe the stars will align next time. Have fun!

If anyone is interested, we can organize a south Texas hog hunt after the workshop from March 9 until either the 11 or 12. I'm going to check with my grandpa to make sure none of his customers have it booked. We have enough beds for 10 plus sofa and recliner....and all the floor space you need. It's approx. 1K acres and we also have a shooting range and small pond.

I almost forgot, the biggest rodeo in the country will be here during the workshop time. The rodeo is one month long with different concerts every evening. The concerts listed for March 7-9 are Blake Sheldon (Wed), ZZ Top (Thursday), Reba (Friday). If some of you come out on March the 6th you can catch the Enrique Iglesias concert if thats your cup of tea...LOL!
You can see concert information at http://www.rodeohouston.com. We can also go out there and hang out in the Hideout....this is the country club they set up next to Reliant Stadium with up and coming artist concerts.

Also, it's mud bug season. So plan on sucking some head one night at the Crawfish Shack!

Hey Nick,
I think this is what you will need for the hunt.

Stamp endorsement requirements apply.

All Texas hunting laws are at:

I'll call the tpwd and make sure.

I'm new to SFA but would love to go hunting. Can somebody let me know what to expect at the workshop and let me know if the hunt is available as well. I understand completely if you don't want newbies going until you get to know them but I am an experienced hunter, although I have never killed a wild pig.

Everyone is welcome at the SFA workshops. The Houston workshop will focus on hand fabbing techniques, including: mitering, top polishing, seaming, laminating, The workshop is a very casual get together where sharing is the top priority, sharing information, sharing techniques, sharing anything to do with the stone business.

Not sure of the status of the hunt. Hunting pigs is kind of boring, imo.

No worries about not being welcomed, everyone is welcome.

Thanks. I like the sound of it and I would be happy to share any knowledge that I can but I think I will be learning more than teaching. And those darn pigs eluded me in Florida, Mississippi and Louisiana. All I want is some revenge, I had to shoot one inside a fence here in Michigan. (Not Sporty or Fun) Well maybe fun but not challenging.

Thanks Again and Looking Forward to Meeting Everyone

The ranch is ready! It's about a 5 hour drive from Houston south to the ranch. My brother can head out Thursday afternoon or Friday morning with those that want to. If others want to leave Saturday, we can. If flying into town, you might need to schedule your return flight for late Sunday or Monday. I can arrange for some extra guns while we are out there.

I don't shoot to much either, I just enjoy driving around while others unload on the hogs on the run. It's just fun hanging out, cooking and having a few drinks. You do need a non-resident hunting license that is like $48. Besides that, bring yourself a sleeping bag or blanket and a towel. We have like 12 beds in the house and it's easier just to throw your sleeping bag on it.....unless you want to bring your fancy bedding.

Sounds like fun. I would rather bring my own gun, any caliber that you recommend. Also i'll be renting a vehicle when I'm down there if anybody needs a ride.
