waterfed air polisher
What is everyones favorite waterfed air-polisher and how long do the last usually? We usually get alpha 658's but recently they seem to be goign out a lot faster than usual. We oil daily and have been regulating the air pressure to make sure it is under the max limit. Please give me some help or feedback, suggestions.

Re: waterfed air polisher
We use barranca air polishers. Love them and I've had mine running for about 2 years. The first one I bought 4 years ago just went to Carmines guy for repair. We oil everyday sometime twice depending on usage that day and we don't have an air dryer

Re: waterfed air polisher
We are having good luck with the Gison GPW-220 its very similar to the Alpha (same CFM, 100 more RPM and couple ounces heavier) but way cheaper (185). You can almost buy 2 to 1 and we are getting 6-8 months out of them with no oil to speak of
and no air dryer. We run them for 2 shifts so I would say with better/any maintenance you should easily be able to get a year or more out of one.

Re: waterfed air polisher
I have a 658 on it's second rebuild in a year and three barranca. Just had my first barranca go down after 2 years. No dryer, oil once a week (sometimes). Barrancas are hands down the better of the two. 658's are toys and I will probably never own one again.

Thanks guys, I was wondering what the opinions were if there were some cheaper options that performed as well as the more expensive models. Our alpha's seam to be only lasting about 2 to 6 months lately. It is good when it is under the 90 days for warranty!! We just wish we could get one to last longer. I have a barranca coming in now.
thanks,
Garett

We carry the Flex, the Weha and the Barranca air polishers.
If you haven't tried the Flex tools and are interested we are running a sale on them now.

Re: waterfed air polisher
ran them cheap air polishers for awhile , long lasting for the price , the side air exhaust was the problem , spent way to much time whatchin peeps chase pads around the shop , , yes I know we did many things to get around it , its just the side exhaust is a nuisance that's all

TOO FUNNY!!!!bdtoolrepairs wrote:Hi. I am Carmines guy . I like the new name![]()
We have tried them all and have stuck with the Alphas. The key is the air pressure, a dryer, and the daily oiling. If you don't have a dryer, no biggie, it will just wear a little faster. We noticed a BIG difference once we introduced the dryer into the mix, though.
Also, ever since MY GUY

Re: waterfed air polisher
We've used alphas over the years pretty successfully, but the Barranca seems to have outlasted them by far.

Re: waterfed air polisher
These air delivery systems look pretty nice. Not sure how they would hold up in a fabshop though.

I don't see anything for water though.
