White Crystaized Glass Stone Fab?

Hey guys,

We are getting ready to do a job in this white crystalized glass stone. Any thing i should know as we have never worked with it.

The slab supplier recommended a different blade to cut it on our bridge saw. (Thoughts?)

Currantly we are using a Yukon Bridge saw and a Destiny CNC stone center from park industries.

This will be a eased edge(straight polish) job.

Can i run this like i would run a quartz type material?

Recomendations for seaming.

As far as cutting it, I can give some info on that. We have a crystallized glass blade. The diamond size, grit and bond is different for this material to achieve the best results when cutting it. As well as the segment design. If you would like more info let us know.

Mark, thanks for the reply. I would be interested in more info concerning the blade. It looks like a continuous blade, is this correct? I was told that is best for the crystalized glass stone.

Also, is it possible to cut using a granite blade? If not, why? We are using terminater blade now.

Does anyone else have any experience with this stone? Best type of epoxy for seams, easy or hard to polish by hand or cnc. Any information would help me out. The stone arrives next week sometime, so i am trying to gather as much info as i can.

No it's not continuous, the motion makes it look like it. A continuous would help with the chipping but if the bond is not correct you will be lucky if you get one cut out of the blade. Also with a continuous their are no gullets to remove slurry fast enough. Yes a granite blade will cut it but the chipping may be more than you want. Also if the bond is too hard or too soft it also may not make it through one cut. That's why specialty blades have been developed for this material. As far as the other questions i'm sure fabricators who have processed it will chime in.

Hi Jeremy. The Terminator Zoom Porcelain blade is a continuous blade designed to cut through glass products and is the blade we use at Tile Collection to cut razor sharp edge on Quartzite and to cut those man made glass products. We even have a recommendation for this blade by the glass2 company. As far as for your destiny goes standard cnc tools work fine but you do have a limited choice of shapes as to what I would offer as the 1st position diamond typically being segmented can cause the material to chip. We at Integra Adhesives have been working on a new color match for the White Crystalized stone products and testing the tensile strength to confirm a solid bond. Our color lab have created a custom color which we have named Crystal White and to secure a 1900psi tensile strength we recomend a light sanding of the joining areas.
