Question about rods used in rodding.
Dear SFA Members,
We (Chemical Concepts) are investigating the introduction of a new rodding material that is both rust proof and works well with adhesives.
We need help with the sizes of materials currently being used and what do these materials currently cost.
As always, we appreciate your input and support.

Re: Question about rods used in rodding.
A good size to work with would be 1/8" x 3/8". 1/2" is a tad bit to much for 2cm.
As far as price, I would have to check my invoices.

Re: Question about rods used in rodding.
1/2" x1/8" hot rolled steel....About 50 cents per 4 foot rod.
Make sure that whatever you use, you cannot bend it by hand. We have tried different materials but have always gone back to the 1/2" as it cannot bend and saves tops.

I'm trying to find a supplier for stainless steel right now. So ditto, what Steve said.

If you find a supplier for 3/8th in SS, please post it. I haven't been able to find one.

Re: Question about rods used in rodding.
we get one call a week lately on rod jacking. Be careful and do a great job and it may not bite you later. Better yet, buy some sink savers and skip the rodding, save some time and money!

Re: Question about rods used in rodding.
I use sink savers, however I like the extra security of my sinks being rodded after installation as well, especially if the cabinet installer didn't do a great job, and you never know when your customer might want to go "coyote ugly" on their countertops.

Being liable for rod jacking years from now is not worth the risk, IMO. If the stone breaks because of coyote ugly, at least you are not liable.
