you can seal the edges etc. but you have to wait for them to dry before using glue. I dont know why I didnt think of this before, but today a guy tried STT FE on the edges of some Carrara and Beaumaniere limestone, both problems stones that get darked when epoxy or resin is used. its quick, it works, it takes an extra 60 seconds. wipe on, wipe off, very little product.

Thank "Dude"
Dumb question here!
I just always thought the sealer wouldn't allow the glue to hold as well.

It is subsurface and it cleans the area so I'd say your bond is better.

just the FE. wipe in on real good, give 3-5 seconds, then wipe again with a clean rag. the FE by itself does a great job.

Re: quick fix for glue absorbing into Carrara
I'm assuming this can be done on the edges of panels to help inhibit the silicone leaching in to the edge too? We are fixing to do some Statuary Danby honed panels.

Bonstone here....
I'm not familiar with these products, so I have to plead a little ignorance here....
But, something north of 90% of glue failures are due to substrate issues (improper surface prep, contamination, etc.). So it IS possible (depending on the chemical nature of the products) for them to affect the adhesion. We'd be happy to do the testing if Steven would be so kind as to send us a sample. As a glue supplier, we hear this complaint occasionally, and it sure would be nice to offer a good solution to the customer.

Mike if you would be so kind to send a few pallets of each of your products, we will test it for you and save you the expense......

MIke,
You may need to test in each state to make sure each climate is covered, I am requesting to be the Alabama testing site.
I can unload the pallets for free
