Hello all,
I am planning to purchase an Abaco dehydrator for my fabrication business, please let me know your views if you are using/had used it before. Appreciate your feedback.
P.S. I'm not a salesman for this product, I'm a fabricator trying to get information.

What equipment are you running? What are you trying to accomplish with a dehydrator?

Re: Please advise on Abaco dehydrator
For a bridge saw, we built a retention area and pumped gray water back to cool the blade.
Not sure a dehydrator system would supply water fast enough, without substantial storage of cleaned water.

Re: Please advise on Abaco dehydrator
As an Abaco dealer let me see if I can help. The pump runs at 52 gallons per minute. While the filtering process varies based on how full the 5 bags are you can expect to filter water at between 15 and 20 gallons per hour, according to Abaco.
The best use for this filtration system is to have a large gray water reservoir and a large clean water reservoir. A lot of customers I have that use this just let it run overnight. There is a double float switch so if the gray water reservoir runs dry the pump will shut off or if the clean water reservoir gets full the pump will shut off also.
If you have any questions let me know.

Yes, per hour, according to Abaco. The water has to filter through the bags.

Re: Please advise on Abaco dehydrator
I know we tried a bag system to help keep all the sediment from clogging up the press filter, it didn't work. Definitely drains slow.

Re: Please advise on Abaco dehydrator
15-20"gallons a minute is what you could use (easily) with a bridge saw, router and polisher going. So, every minute, you could use an hours worth of filtering. That math doesn't add up in favor of the fabricator, iMO.

Re: Please advise on Abaco dehydrator
The Dehydrator works if you have a large enough pit for clean and dirty water so it can run all night.

Nice catch Chris!
I completely breezed past the "per hour" in the description.

Re: Please advise on Abaco dehydrator
How can 20 gallons a hour of filtering ever supply a shop using 10-15 gallons a minute?
Filtering:
16 hours of cycle time X 20 gallons of filtered water/hour = 320 gallons.
Usage:
320 gallons is only 120 minutes of water @ less than 3gal/minute.
Shouldn't they be equal?

Re: Please advise on Abaco dehydrator
Some shops must use less water than that as we have sold many of the Dehydrators. How much water does a saw use?

Re: Please advise on Abaco dehydrator
And if you have a shop that uses more than 360 gallons of water a day then this is not the system you should use as it is inadequate for that. For a small shop that makes a few kitchens a week and has a daily consumption of that or less this is an option. For those shops a nice thing about this is it is low maintenance with only 2 moving parts (the pumps) and 5 filter bags.
It is definitely not the best filtration system, but for a start up it is economically priced.
I think that is why they sell.

This is a big outlay for a start up but it will last you a number of years and run 2 saws, edge polisher, cnc router and hand tools. I bought a system similar to the one you are looking at only to replace it with the Claudio Turini after 2 years when we purchased more machines as the bag system just doesn't manage anything more than a saw and edge polisher. Money spent now on the right equipment will be saved further down the line.

Re: Please advise on Abaco dehydrator
We have a dehydrator - works great for the saw and fab king 4-6 gal a minute while those machines are on...
Monday we are throwing a flying flat in the mix and hoping to make things work by adding a large storage tank after the dehydrator... guess we'll find out soon!
I think the 15-20gal an hour rating is very conservative, Maybe when the bags are almost full...
