Floor Grate

I am looking for somewhere to buy floor grates for some added floor drains in my shop open to sizes as I don't have them cut yet but seeing what and were to get them ? must be able to drive forklift over them

Steel companies sell grating by the sheet. The sheets are big, like 20ft x 30". We bought the grates and formed our drains so we would get three grate runs per sheet (10" grates on 7" drains). The concrete guys just cut the grating with a gas powered cut-off saw. I believe the grates are available in different gauges. If you are driving over them with forklifts you need a heavy gauge.

I agree with Mark on Rockcrete. We have used them 3x's and are bringing them back in January for more work. Also, if you just need replacements or are doing the trench work yourself, this company is good to buy from as well. We use them for replacements.

Our local steel distributor will cut the bar grating to size for way cheaper than I can even start to think about cutting it myself. Check around and open an account with a steel distributor, most will deliver for free and the steel prices are really cheap.

We use a large steel welding shop here and they make these up all the time. Was not half the cost I was expecting.

We used a local Steel shop and they had Galvanized grating that would hold 40,000lbs. It was expensive I guess but when compared to a couple slabs of stone it was cheap. And hopefully I'm done forever.

Nathan, I just bought a bunch from McNichols. You can see pictures of it on the thread I have in the Members lounge titled "The Move"

I ordered it and had them cut it.

They are in New Brighton, Minnesota.
