Customer stained there top (Colonial Ivory) and I went out to look at it. I heated it up a bit with the torch and I got some of it to come up. The next day they made a poultice and let it sit for a day, alot of it came out but then a burgundy spot appeared in the stone. Any idea why or how this happened and any idea how to remove it? Just ordered some Mangia Macchia hoping this will work better
1st pic is the burgundy spot
2nd pic is the stain
Cheers

No its next to the stove, apparently he was cooking some sausages and set a plate down on the countertop that had oil all over it

Re: Need some advice on a stain
That reddish stain won't magically appear, they must have spilled something on it again and an acetone poultice will pull the sealer out of the stone making it super easy to stain again.
Looks like a wine stain which would need a hydrogen peroxide poultice. Then I would go back to using an acetone poultice. Looked like a decent deep stain so it will take a few applications to remove it all.

Gary:
I'm curious as to the business aspect of stain removal. I don't know about you, but I've got to get paid for every trip, drive time included. If you contract me for a sink replacement, you can damn well bet you're getting a sink replacement no matter what. I don't think I could say the same for stain removal. How many trips? How good is "good enough"?

Couldn't agree more with you on this one Matt. A customer will never tell you the full truth as they think you will jump ship and not stand by your product. Heating it up will only lighten the stain not remove it. Follow Matt's instructions with this one and you will be fine.
Oh and ask him about his red wine and sausage recipe. It may be a good one!
