I'm not going to coverings, so I wonder if anyone can check these out and tell me
their opinion of them. They look like they would work very well.

I'm wondering how wide the bite is, looks like its only a couple of inches., some of the stones we do, I would be afraid to use it since its right on the edge.

Joe it looks like its the same as the sink hole saver. And I agree with you that it doesn't look like there's enough surface area contacting the stone, especially if its an edge like a long ogee. We mostly use handles on islands and I'd definitely be worried about breaking the finished edge on a delicate stone. Probably would be good for tall "L" shaped pieces. But then again this is all speculation

But, to keep this tread on topic, has anyone actually seen , or better yet, used this product and can comment on the concerns of the gripping distance from the edge.

I went to covering saw these and ordered them. They just came in, so I measured that distance and it is 2" worth of bite that you can get. They demo'd it with a vanity on one of their omni carts and lifted it up off the ground and didn't have any slippage. But it was not a delicate piece of stone they wer using. They also expand to fit 6cm or shrink to fit 2cm by way of a removable pin. Hope this helps.

First off, thanks everyone for this discussion.

I hope this answers a few questions for now. At least until some members get back from the show.

You can use it on tops up to 69 mm (2.7 inches) thick. It reaches in about 2" and the contact surfaces are 1.25" deep. (A little different than the Sink Hole Saver.)

You can clamp tops with or without laminations; although, there may be less contact "overlap" on a 6cm top with a deep sloping edge detail (like a waterfall / triple pencil), IF you have a skinny lam strip. You just have to watch carefully when carrying something like that, or run your lam strips a little wider.



The bars are 15.5" long, so I doubt you would break any stone especially since almost all of the force is vertical. It is not like you are going to pull or twist sideways on it while the piece is still tied down in the a-frame... but I suppose it could happen with any clamp if the material is soft enough. Just try to minimize the side-to-side sway and twisting. And if you're worried about using them on a particular piece, then don't use them on that piece. Always trust your gut when moving fragile material, because there is heartache when you don't! They will still be a tremendous help on many other large tops because they won't slip when the material is wet or dusty, or when you are going up or down stairs.

I will TRY to make a video as soon as I can, so you can get a closer look at how well it functions. Derek & Kirsten have sold many pairs in the GranQuartz booth, so I am sure there will be some that have seen and held the clamp that can post their opinion soon.

I like the idea of them not falling off the piece But, I can see someone possibly breaking a piece of stone by trying to make sure they are "tight enough".

No, not if they are anything like the rails. We had the exact opposite issue, to difficult to loosen. We have since solved that issue.

Scott, they will not come loose. The thick plastic washer under the clamp knob is designed to compress a small amount and put tension back onto the clamp knob to keep it from spinning loose (it works very well).

The good thing is that this design wont have that issue. They may look similar to the rails, but the design is different. If the clamps are left on very tight for a while, the tackiness of the rubber will tend to stick to the stone. You may have noticed this on the carts and dollies we make. Nothing too bad. They just need a little oil the threaded shaft to keep them working smoothly.

the crew just informed me after several 3 cm installs that they love the Aqua Jaw Carry Vise they say it is easier to lift the stone and does not feel as heavy during carry and the placement of the grip's is most excellent. They also love them for going up and down stairs and is a whole lot less stress-full in general knowing there is a lot less probability of slippage like gravity grip style clamps. They have since move the Aqua Jaw into full time usage. Anything that takes stress away from Our Crew and is safer is $$$$$ well spent .
