What is Super Plunge?

Guys, what exactly does "super plunge" and "plunge mitering" mean? I see the term all the time and I don't understand the scope of the word. We cut tons of miters and we cut face-up into our table about 1/8" of an inch. Is this considered "plunging?"

Super plunge is Sasso solution for tight nesting. The blade plunges into the the saw bed to allow the leading edge of the blade to go into inside corners, or avoid overcuts. Its just a programming thing, I'm sure a K600 user could chime in and share their opinion on it.

Plunging is plunging the saw blade into the slab, rather than running it in from the edge. This is helpful when cutting miters.

Super Plunge is a feature of the Sasso saw that plunges the blade deeper near the end of a straight cut to lessen the scrap at an inside 90 corner.

I have also heard James D called "super plunge" on occasion. Not really sure what that involved.

Works best with 18" blade gets the kerf down to about 3/4 with a 4" plunge. The piece that is being separated in this cut is a nest under 1" you can see the part above is very close. Also note how short the mill runs are on that sink cut out. In addition to tight nests you can decrease the amount of milling you need to clear cut stuff.

How often do you have to fill the table when you go this deep?

I am 10 weeks in (4-6 houses per week .. average around 500 sq./ft./week) and have not resurfaced our table yet. It will be done either this weekend or next. I spoke with Chris Evans yesterday as well as James Donaire and got some advice from the both of them on the process. Takes about hour total to resurface and mill it back flat after it has dried overnight.

and after that if you buy a K600 and want to put a wood table on it and turn of the feature in the software, I will go cut down a tree and build you a wood bed and drive on.
