Looks awesome and turned out great.
A thought I just had - if you were going to laminate two long pieces of wood together you would use a biscuit jointer. I wonder if a plate jointer with a diamond blade and some custom ES biscuits would have significantly helped align the pieces with final fitment from GG's.

Did you have to get into surface polishing the joints or did you get it close enough during glueing?
