Colby, Donatoni's book matching is in the final stages of testing. I fully expect that we will have something shortly after Marmomacc to present to the NA market. All indications are that it works well, but like everything Donatoni puts out, they make sure it works before they send it out. Donatoni is also working on the integration with Slabsmith for those who already have Slabsmith.BellaTerra wrote: ↑Tue Aug 08, 2017 7:46 pmI'm bringing this thread back to life!!!
We are back at looking for a saw. Buying the Router for the price we did has given me room in the budget to pursue a saw. That being said the Router still cost a lot so budget is important.
What I am interested in knowing is how does each companies vein matching software stack up? Sasso requires slabsmith, Donatoni was working on something (is it ready?), Breton and Denver have their own. How do they all compare? Who loves theirs? Who hates theirs?

Re: CNC Saw Software Wars
Hey Rob that's great to hear.
We are considering a new Spin that is in stock in Toronto that comes with the camera and photo software. Would the new vein matching software be a free upgrade for new customers or should I wait to purchase till after the release to avoid a hefty charge?

Too much on this thread, my head hurts. Best thing to do is to go out and look at a variety of machines. People tend to defend what ever machine that they have. It's the my daughter is the most beautiful syndrome. Take a look, talk to the shop people and remember that there is more to saws than just software.

Re: CNC Saw Software Wars
LOL...you could use vein match with a Sasso bro. You could use photo shop. You could use your iPhone and insert image command in Acam....does not mean it works well. How many $100+ per sf slabs of really expensive stone do you have to smoke before you figure out that not getting the best solution...eh....sucks?
If you are not compensating for aspherical distortion of the camera lens, exposure, grey scale and a dozen other things...you are simply using glorified photoshop to do layout. Slabmsith has been doing this sophisticated compensation since the beginning. It is silly to reinvent a half baked solution and offer it as free software with our saws. When the best is already proven and available....unless your goal is to save money. Then...well that's a whole different conversation....but hey...what do I know?
Anyhoo....Hit me up, I will do a go-to-meeting with you and show you what the future looks like. Software isn't the only thing....it's everything. At least if you go that route...you will go with your eyes wide open. I will do you a favor, we will build some crazy tight complex cut batches, we can tool path and simulate the cut batches and then I'll give you the DXF files of the nest you make and you can have the other guys you are looking at tool path them for you. I think you will find it enlightening. As a matter of fact, I guarantee it. (that offer is open to anyone that is seriously looking at buying a saw)
Take the software chop-o-rama challenge! Learn something. Really...learn it. I wonder if any other saws guys would make that challenge? BRING IT! LETS GET BUSY!
Every Sasso customer is about to get an incredible advanced tool-pathing automation Alphacam software upgrade. (end of August) Stand by....And no....there is no charge for the upgrade.

I have to say if a salesman said this to me when I was looking to buy I would have run the other way.deacdon wrote: ↑Wed Aug 23, 2017 4:05 pmColby, sorry for not responding right away, I need to learn how to set the alerts on this board.BellaTerra wrote: ↑Fri Aug 11, 2017 8:42 amHey Rob that's great to hear.

There is going to be a charge for the module with the book matching. From what I've seen it looks pretty good, but we need to get some feedback and then understand what we have before we present it to you. It is something that can be added at a later date, so I'd go ahead and get the learning curve of the saw out of the way and then move into the book matching portion.

Re: CNC Saw Software Wars
Mark is spot on. Get slabsmith. We can "bookmatch" from slab to slab with our saw, but if youre not doing it ahead of time its a waste of time. We haven't cut anything using our on board saw software since going slabsmith.
