Quartz tarrif
With the USITC US international trade commission 5-0 vote to support Cambria unfair trade practice against China imports ,it looks like a big cash cow is being slaughtered .What options are you guys looking into?

Re: Quartz tarrif
This only affects quartz manufactured in China. A good bit of the branded material is made in other parts of Asia and not subject to the tariff. I spoke to our MSI rep about it and his response is that those brands that have plants in China are in the midst of moving the plants to other countries. MSI expects the tariffs to be significant enough to justify the cost of moving equipment. In the end, the tariffs will hit hardest on the non-branded or lowest quality brands of Chinese quartz. Until we see otherwise, we expect the price increases in branded quartz slabs to be minimal.

Re: Quartz tarrif
Not mentioning names (as this isn't in the members area) but I wonder what the well known 'non asian/chinese' quartz brands are going to do with their production lines that they have in China. And there is a few. And I know this as a matter of fact 100%.

Re: Quartz tarrif
I enjoyed this article.

The big dogs are paving the way...
There are plenty of nationally recognized quartz companies that will remain unaffected. We're still riding the quartz wave.

The above is a link to an article on the the recent tariff ruling:
Cambria has stated that fabricators are not part of the domestic industry, if you disagree with this statement, please take a few minutes to check out the recent Stone World article. If you would like to have a voice, check out the link.
Thanks, David T. Stone Showcase New England.

DOMESTIC INDUSTRY: Lastly, we are asking the fabricators if they believe they are a part of the domestic quartz industry. Cambria has been adamant with the ITC and DOC that the fabricators do not make up the industry. Their assertion is that fabricators operate out of, “fabrication facility which a small one could be as few as two people or handful, a family, together with a saw and a router creating the counter top” and that does not qualify them to heard. Furthermore they continue to diminish the expertise needed by the fabricator to cut and shape the stone.
We have created a microsite to educate fabricators. Our microsite contains convenient links to all official documents for the case to date, as well as summaries of all actions taken by commerce and by Cambria, the latest updates to the case in chronological order, a timeline for the case, and three ways for fabricators to get involved and take action.
SW: What have you guys done so that fabricators can voice their opinion about tariffs?
VM: Our website www.quartzcoalition.com enables fabricators to get up-to-date information
