No doubt that is a horrible color match at the seam.
It is impossible to determine what could have been done without knowing more details.
Information required to make a truly accurate response would be (IMO):
1. size of slab
2. any flaws in slab, that would cause layout issues
3. any specific discussions prior to cutting (we all have had clients that say they don't care about details, only price)
4. What were any options offered prior to cutting
Unfortunately, we will probably never hear enough information to make an unbiased determination.
It is, certainly, easy to see this eyesore. it is quite another to know what was discussed prior to this photo.
All the armchair quarterbacks, posting their perfect work is great, but hardly useful to OP or any reader. We all realize that there are better jobs out there. Kudos to all who took this opportunity to compare their perfect jobs to this one. You all must all be so proud. Truth be known, I doubt any of you quarterbacks would have taken this job for the money paid. There are far more factors here to be considered than the work. The tops look like they fit fine. There was no mention of a poor seam or wall gap. This would lead me to think that the fabricator is a reputable one and we may not be hearing the full story from the OP. I could be wrong, but that is waht my gut is telling me. I have learned to trust my gut on it'e judgement.

I spin the right piece 180 and done beautiful colormatch. If you got it for a deal out of scrap yard then you could have had some issue somewhere.

Re: Granite seam quality
Even not out of the scrap yard, those legs could be different sizes. It could have been 1/8" off of one of those legs there was a flaw and they HAD to orient it that way. I still contest the should have been clear what they are doing. But we will never know the full story.Greader20+ wrote: ↑Tue Jun 26, 2018 3:15 pmI spin the right piece 180 and done beautiful colormatch. No excuse. This is an example, not perfect but over an hour of planning to cut this entire job from one slab. Every customer deserves your best effort.

Celtic Granite:
Very impressive work.
If I may, I'd suggest strapping your sink in place next time. This eliminates the need for for a front rail wide enough to accommodate sink clips. If you rabbet the 3/4" cabinet top rail by 5/8" to accommodate the sink flange, with a 1 1/2" overhang, the front rail would only have to be 2 3/4" or so depending on reveal. The saved 1 1/4" might let the plumber put the faucet in the center rear of that sink instead off to the side where it has to go now.
Hercules Universal Sink Harness @ Braxton Bragg, and/or Sink Strap @ Regent Stone Products.

Re: Granite seam quality
Just like Kohler specifies in their instructions, a 36" sink going into a 36" cabinet is going to require some cabinet alterations. You're essentially replacing the cabinet you're removing with stainless steel when you strap. Yeah, so I chewed up the laminate face of the cabinet making the slot for the sink flange to slide in, but it gets covered by the drawer front that's never getting opened again anyway. You can see the wires of the Hercules Universal Sink Harness (Braxton Bragg) in the picture. You're not doing this retrofit without it or a couple Sink Straps (Regent Stone Products).
I think I'm gonna make "Three K in one day" my new motto.

Re: Granite seam quality
This practice of using any opportunity to post pictures of your rodjacking repairs is more about self promotion than actually helping anyone. Does this follow the guidelines of how to post on the sfa site? I don't know just asking.

Ken:
A little thread drift is a good thing.
Celticgranite has installed a sink in a way that prevents a faucet from being installed in the rear. I've offered a constructive way to eliminate that problem. Most would consider that helpful and in the spirit of the SFA.
If I had access to the "How To" section of this website, I'd be happy to post solutions there. Perhaps with your connections, you could help a brother out. Thanks.
