Quartz Stain - Q - Pelican White

How are you guys? I've been lurking here for a while and finally created an account.

We installed this job 6-7 months ago and the client forwarded me pictures of the "stains" in the quartz counter top. I was personally at the job site and we didn't see anything until the pictures I received this morning. Would anybody here know what may have caused this or suggestions on repairing? The area looks like it is inside the material and you can't feel it on the surface.

I greatly appreciate any feedback.

Stain? I think its an etch. Solution is to repolish.

x2 on etch. Most likely either; paint thinner, acetone or epoxy grout

x 3 its an etch. Best bet is to surface polish or replace. Up to you if your do this FOC or charge.

It's definitely an etch from a chemical. Could be acetone or a similar solvent or bleach based. Though the second is unlikely if it was not noticed within a week of install.

Generally we find that customers are cleaning the products with the wrong cleaners after install and causing the issues to remove stains. They generally are either abrasive compounds such as BKF etc or a bleach based cleaning product. Please note citric acid and oxalic acids will do the same and some cleaning products do contain these acids. Some of the quartz manufacturers in the USA are recommending these products and the company you have mentions does.

They are all known to cause etching especially on darker and also marble look quartz.

Etch. Either face polish (good luck with all of the natural lighting) or replace. Charge if you're certain it wasn't one of your guys...

definitely an etch

we have had issues with our installers or fabricators leaving the plastic acetone bottle on the counter tops when working on the stone and it leaves a similar sized mark that needs to be either re polished or replaced. best way to fix this is train your guys not do put chemicals on the surface of the stone and practice face polishing quartz in the shop for when things like this happen.
