Fireplace Surround with Makalu Bay Material

Hello! This is my first post on the forum. I will be joining the SFA soon. In the mean time I'm wanting your opinions on this fireplace surround. My gut is telling me the granite will not hold up to the radiant heat for this cast iron stove.

I've been in the natural stone industry for 3 years now and have been measuring for a year.

There will be about 5" between the top of the stove and the bottom of the upper material.

I'd recommend soapstone and also seaming. Set seams with high temp silicone instead of traditional glue.
