Angle grinder kickback
Newbie in the industry. Was recommended to this site. So we do our process with templates. I seem to have an issue with an angle grinder kickback and it’s quite unnerving. Anyone have advice to how to properly dry grind (sadly, but always wear a mask) and shape without having a kick back with the Makita with the saw blade attached to it? I’d hate for a kick back to happen and have an injury or cut into the surface on top. Thanks for the advice. Newbie, but willing to learn to the best of my ability.

Re: Angle grinder kickback
Always pull the blade in the opposite way from it spinning. You also need to make sure the blade is straight in the cut so it doesn't bind. There is definitely a skill to using a grinder in stone and practice will make you better.

skill saws much easier and safer. be sure to tape the surface where your saw will slide.

Would a anti kick back angle grinder be more suitable? I do know that there is such a thing as when it is pinched the machine will literally shut off due to the safety mechanism sensing a pinch with a kickback. I’ve even heard that putting the handle On the Makita is a good way to keep it straight. Does it typically spin left to right? I prefer to pull when cutting, instead of pushing.

Re: Angle grinder kickback
X2. And stop cutting dry. It’s even more dangerous than the grinder. Doesn’t take much water to keep the dust at bay

Re: Angle grinder kickback
Pulling is always better. But do yourself a favor and rig a water line to feed to the blade (see attached). This will keep the dust down and make your life a lot easier.
