Milling blade
I have a 12" x 2" ----know what your thinking let me finish---Milling Blade that the segments are wearing enevenly, I'm wondering if this wheel can be dressed to get the segments even again,if so how to do it or send it out to someone. The blade is fairly new and has a good 1/4" left on it. I've been milling all my stone this way forever ,can i do this on the cnc now still learning the machine, any help Thanks John

Re: Milling blade
Your milling blade will always show uneven wear when the passes over lap each other (some of the diamonds are simply not engaging where the previous pass was.Try taking smaller depths and more passes for more even segment wear. Diamant Boart does this service in house.

Re: Milling blade
Hey John, thanks again for that splash the other day, really helped me out. I'm sure that if you gave it to Brian when the stone boss truck comes by, he can send it out to Continental.

Re: Milling blade
We alternate our milling direction each time. i.e. left to right this month, right to left next month. Keeps the diamonds relatively square.

NOTICE
Another procedural tip brought to you by RON HANNAH!!
seriously Ron, that is a great tip. Just when a new way to look at things is needed, you ALWAYS have a procedure for it. I love it!!

Re: Milling blade
I was told years ago when milling the table to start in the middle table and work your way out, then do the other half the same way. Its the same as Ron explained but this way you won't forget which way to go.

Re: Milling blade
We always had an issue with that as well until we did as RRon described. Gran Quartz can take care of it at our blade facility in Ga.

Re: Milling blade
I have found that I can straighten and dress milling wheels and router bits using a silicone carbide wheel. if you put the silicone carbide wheel on a variable speed polisher with the speed on the lower end, and then with the milling wheel spinning, use the face (the flat end) of the silicone carbide wheel (also spinning) so that the silicone carbide is flattening the face of the milling wheel. use lots of water, and not much pressure. also make sure you have full face protection! we use this method to dress our blades when they need it, and I also recently used it on my rubenator when we did not rotate them when we should have.

Re: Milling blade
Can't beat silicon carbide for dressing and opening up diamonds. Love it

Re: Milling blade
We use a green wheel (carborundum, think) to dress our diamond chisels it is very fast and safe, much more so than a silicon carbide wheel, I think. We have it on a bench grinder, very convenient.
