I'm wondering what others are using for setting slab shower walls and lids over floated mud? White modified thinset is what ive always used plus wire anchoring.Polyester knife grade, poly epoxy,a,b epoxy? I want a good stick to resin back slabs, some have suggested grinding resined mesh off but wondering if there is another solution.
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Best adhesive for fibermesh backed slab shower ceilings
It's only as good as what it's stuck with and what it's stuck to.
Soooo, unless you know or witnessed the resin being stuck, you don't know.
I have seen mesh that would come off really easy.
If we are depending on the spots as a bond, we grind off the spots most of the time.
Tenax Domo or Rivo is usually our first choice for spot set anchored stuff.
Laticretes latapoxy 310 works well too.

Epoxy and mechanical anchoring. While you can use the latex thinset the epoxy is a stronger bond.
Todd mentioned a couple of tenax products and of them I do like the Rivo the best.

Re: Best adhesive for fibermesh backed slab shower ceilings
There is no latex modified thinset that is recommended to bond over epoxy to my knowledge.
In this case, grind it off.
Rivo is good, Domo is even stronger and adds the ability to still bond good even if the stone is slightly damp according to Tenax.

I talked to Gregg about this on the phone. He said it was quartzite. A lot of quartzite I have seen lately has sucked up glue and other moisture. If this is the case, you'll likely get the dark spots from where the bond is. With thinset it goes away, with epoxy, sometims it doesn't. Just test some pieces first.

Re: Best adhesive for fibermesh backed slab shower ceilings
We have had to skim stone with a fast setting epoxy a few times when we felt the epoxy was necessary to avoid the spots.
If thinset will work it' is certainly easier.

Re: Best adhesive for fibermesh backed slab shower ceilings
Thanks guys! I just joined up last week and didn't know if I'd get these answers outside of the members lounge (Dan assures me ill get permission this week hopefully, I know everyone is busy with the shows) What a pleasant surprise.
I talked with one of Mark's people at DeFusco Supply and he recommended Tenax Fixtop,so ill test some and see what happens. The mesh is really soaked onto these particular slabs, but I'll try both ground of spots and over the resin.
Many thanks for your responses!
