So Im ready to chuck my old school manual seam setters and step up to good set so here's the question...

Omni cubed stealth seamer or gorilla grips 2.0?


Both are priced about the same and I have read a bunch of reveiws but I am still on the fence.

so if you were gonna drop almost a 1K on a seamer what would you buy?

We usually talk about this stuff in the back room. Are you a member yet?

GGs hands down. I would strongly suggest you become a member if you have not already done so. There is more to making a great seam than just the gripps.

Omni makes a ton of "must have" gear, but GGs are still my personal preference for seaming.

I used to be a member years back, kind of dropped out of fabricating for a while due to the fact that I had to get a regular job to feed my kids :/. I have been fabricating for 10 years, now I only do it on a part time basis but things have gotten busy again as far as that goes and will be joining back up. because I now work 2 jobs I try to be as efficient as possible, I use a lot of the seam prep tricks that I learned from being a member before I am (and so are my customers) very happy with the quality of my seams, I just want to be able to set a seam and walk away so I can work on something else with out the damn seamer letting loose.

I'm gonna jump over and sign back up right now, sorry if I put this out in the open...

I'm looking at upgrading one set of my GGs to the new version that was at coverings. Shoot me an offer on one of my pair and maybe both of us will be happy.

Did you read what he said, he used to be a member and had to leave both here and fabrication because he couldn't feed his kids and now he works two jobs to (I assume) get back into it and still accomplish that same feeding kids goal along with gettting ahead a bit.... Great time for the no information hard membership sell! I generally have the same response, but obviously Joining the SFA is this guys last priority.

Every now and again gorilla grips come up on the classifieds here. We use those and like them, maybe call them and see if they have any that are refurbished or something like that? Honestly I would search for a used set of either, call both companies on returns or something and the best deal you can afford on any setter that can level on either side of the seam(don't know how to say it, like the cams I guess) is what to roll with. I like the gg's, but I am sure they all work well that are based on that kind of principle. It may be penny wise and pound foolish to get a manual set though, even in your position.

Ive never used the gg but. Like my stealth seamer. I would get gg next just to see the difference. Everyone sems to like them. Like nick said, anything that will level out both sides should be adequate.

Don't get me wrong now GGs and such are fantastic tools but not absolutely a must to make great seams if you are struggling with money. A Seam Phantom (for a non cnc fabber) is a much more valuable tool and IMO should be the first purchase.

Yes yes yes to what ken said. A good seam setter did not improve our seams, it just made life waaaayyyyyy easier.

They are used. Work as well today as the day we bought them. I like the idea of having one set that can do small rails....thus my reason for upgrading one set.

$900 new. $600 plus shipping and they are yours.
