We have the Pitbull and love it! Its a great piece with 0 Failures. It may not be the fastest machine on just a 3cm chisel but it is reliable and perfect chisel every time.

Re: stone beaver
Ive used both. Both products are good. The beaver is heavy. The pit-bull is made by Omega Diamond, and distributed by GranQuartz, among others. Omega will custom make any type of tooth you'd like, they have some pretty cool ones already made. Sam's a genius when it comes to stone.

Totally agree!
We have had the Weha & the Beaver and then bought the Omega version.
Totally different unit. It doesn't sit on the stone so no scratching, no bouncing, threatened to break the piece. Way more control and power.
Got rid of the others and only use this.

Re: stone beaver
The Pit Bull uses a hydraulic ram instead of a pneumatic one. That gives you more power, and more importantly controlled power; this means that it doesn't violently bounce around when the break occurs. You should call Sam at Omega Diamond if you have any questions about the different options and use on different materials... He really knows his tools.

Re: stone beaver
Hands down pitbull. much more versatile tool. 8cm chiseling capabilities. Chisels engineered stone, absolute black, scalloped chiseled edge, reverse scallop, marble teeth. Only Hydraulic chisel on the market.

Re: stone beaver
We are purchasing in a Pitbull and have a 6cm chisled job coming up. How much extra overhand do you add to the edge for the chisel?

Re: stone beaver
I would do 3/8". Air over hydraulic makes a TON of difference on fragile materials! Now more pucker and hope on vein cut travertine

Re: stone beaver
We usually do 3/4" extra overhang depending on the material. It's very important to use the correct teeth though! The teeth with the benchs are for hard stone. If you use them on soft stone the ledges (benches) hit the stone and shatter it instead of making a clean break. For 6cm if it breaks unevenly you can put one soft tooth and one hard tooth on to square it back up by using the soft tooth bench resting against the stone and the hard tooth to sheer the lipped stone back square.ageless wrote:We are purchasing in a Pitbull and have a 6cm chisled job coming up. Re: stone beaver
Yes 3/4 extra as that's about what it takes off. We usually lam 1 1/2 but on chiseled, at least 2 1/4 to 2 1/2. Do a test run to determine.

Re: stone beaver
Used to do 1 inch. But did 1/2 inch on the last 2 and it still worked out good. These were VG and BP jobs though.

Re: stone beaver
We do 1/2" extra using laminated 2cm. That's what we do for regular edges also (then cut it back), so we can keep everything the same at templating.
Like I said earlier; you will not be sorry with the Pitbull or Big Dog, or whatever it's called.
Like Larry said, call Sam at Omega Diamond (the maker) and he will make your learning curve way shorter.
