Hi Guys ,
I'm ready to import this Blue Louise quartzite in slabs 2 cm .
Do you know what is a fare price to sell it in the north east market ?
From my point of view, this is a very good quality , check the attached picture .
Thanks
Steven

Re: Blue Louise Quartzite
More questions come to mind than answers.
Are you in the stone business?
Do you have safe material handling equipment?
Do you have any fabricator clients?
Are you selling retail?
How much are you importing?
Where are you buying it from?
Are you going to import on a regular basis?
Do you trust your source? Evidently not, if you are price checking here.
What market in the Northeast? Manhattan & Boston are different from Barre Vt & Portland Maine.

Re: Blue Louise Quartzite
Boston should command a pretty decent mark up for material like this. As far as what a fair price is...well that is pretty subjective. asking fabricators what they think a fair price is for this material is fraught with caveats,
I would think, we (fabricators) all would want it as inexpensively as possible, then a further discount for paying in 90 days.
We do have some Slab suppliers and producers who are sponsors and ar every pleased with the results.
Maybe some NE guys can chime on local pricing for those slabs, although we discourage talking price in public areas around here.

Re: Blue Louise Quartzite
I would say about 50% of our work is in Boston. We only do commercial work. Your biggest challenge is going to be to get architects to spec this material, most of them are in love with fragile marbles that break when you sneeze on them and engineered stone. I cannot speak on the residential side.

Steven,
Prices and in depth technical information are not normally discussed in the open general forum. I recommend you join the SFA and get access to the members only area where we can discuss more in depth items. You will find that your membership with the SFA will be worth every penny and will be repaid ten fold just in information you will get and learn from everyone here.

So you are a supplier, not a fabricator?

Re: Blue Louise Quartzite
Those slabs look interesting bookmatched, but IMO are not good examples (borderline terrible) of Blue Louise. Looks more like orange louise! Blue Louise always has some weird rust color going through it but the blue is usually much more pronounced and not so light. Blue Louise, Azul Portofino and Azul Do Mar... Are always a richer blue. At least anything we've cut.

Along with more white.... not to say that they are bad looking slabs but someone would have to want a lot of orange! Maybe market it as Thanksgiving Louise?Alex DiPietro wrote:Those slabs look interesting bookmatched, but IMO are not good examples (borderline terrible) of Blue Louise. Looks more like orange louise! Re: Blue Louise Quartzite
The quarry is currently closed. These actually look nicer than some I've seen in LA for close to $100 per sq foot. I import from the quarry owner, and can provide pictures of the last block I was offered. I passed. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder " It's not something the customer is going to find anywhere else. If they love it- they will pay what your asking. It's a rare stone. Best of Luck. CB
