Makita grinders
A Makita variable speed has always been my go to tool, specifically the 9565cv. I missed it but at some point it was phased out and the replacement is the GA5042C. In less then a year I've had a 20% fail rate on a lot of these I bought, mean while my old 9565s keep going (6 years or more for most of them). Needless to say I don't think I'll be buying any more Makitas. Any recommendations on a better alternative?

Re: Makita grinders
We're here in Canada too and purchase most of our Makita tools through Regent. Faster shipping, better prices, and better selection than the local suppliers.

Re: Makita grinders
We aslso buy the makitas from regent, been using the same ones forever. They did come out with a new model recently but the old is still available. I tried one of the new ones and it didnt last as long, however, i took it apart found the brushes were worn completely. $10.00 for a new set and its good to go. I actually bought 3 more sets of brushes and brought a few others from the scrap pile back to life.
