Yesterday I had a service call jammed into my schedule to "re-seal a white carrara kitchen from Feb 2016, and talk with homeowner about some other issues". Order management software shows that I'm the third "service team" out there.
Oh joys ..... this is not going to end well.
Immediately upon arrival, the homeowner is giddy with happiness that I've arrived (actually an hour early with homeowner permission).
"Where's the camera?" Come on guys, service call customers are never happy (at least in the beginning).
First observation/thought: We gotta raise our prices, this is gorgeous!
Turns out that this homeowner has built their new home, and life around the top. It's not actually used for living, it's a museum piece. There's a conventional tall 36" wide pantry cabinet, that is a secret door to the real kitchen (looks like she can COOK too). While testing how water behaves on the carrara, I put the first glass that was ever on the marble over my puddle of water to see if I could push water into the top.
I was basically acting as a consultant to re-confirm that she is caring for the top correctly. We had a good time. (please no more sealer)
I set her up with some more reading materials on MB's old website, and suggested that she should hire a restoration company to be on a yearly maintenance contract. Anyone who loves there countertop this much, needs to have it tuned up every once in a while.
Made my day.

Re: White Carrara kitchen, a different perspective
When I lived in Nashville we would occasionally install in house's that had a show kitchen for all the guests to see and then a functioning kitchen where all the work would be done! The functioning kitchen was always behind a door so no one would have to see food prep I guess!

Re: White Carrara kitchen, a different perspective
We often do secondary kitchens known as "Wok Kitchens" or "Spice Kitchens"
These are typically smaller kitchens, separate from the "Main" kitchen, with large industrial hood vents to keep the smells and smokes of cooking from permeating the rest of the household.

Re: White Carrara kitchen, a different perspective
We are currently working on a house with 3 kitchens.
One is a straight counter about 18' long with a 11' x 5' island, across from that and at 90 degrees, is the show kitchen with 2 chandeliers over a 15' x 6' island and a 22' straight counter. directly behind that (behind a wall) is the Butlers kitchen; 18' counter and 14' x 14' U-shaped counters.
Technically there is also a 5 slab Dekton kitchen outdoors and a kitchenette in the master, so it has 5 kitchens.
I don't get it but then I'm a neanderthal.
