Re: Sink Cutouts
We try not to do less than 4".
Sometimes we will cramp to 3.5 if we have to.

Re: Sink Cutouts
Our normal ovals (Kohler 2210's) are set back 3.75" standard. This is assuming standard 1.5" overhang. We just had too many issues with tight faucets and the extra 1/4" seems to have helped. Most other sinks are setback 4" but we deal with them case by case.
Re: Sink Cutouts
I put the rim of the sink about a 1/4" away from the inside of the front of the cabinet. Sink rail ends up being whatever it ends up being..

One day this will bite you in the butt if you forget to check if faucet will fit.

Re: Sink Cutouts
Havent seen a sink where this hasnt worked yet but im sure you have a good point. I draw everything in cad including the faucet holes so everything is predetermined before the slab gets touched

Re: Sink Cutouts
I draw everything in cad too but some faucets have much larger "cover rings" than normal and with a 3cm splash... I guess you 2cm guys probably are less likely to encounter this problem.

Re: Sink Cutouts
I do some 3 cm now and i am aware of that being an issue with splash, and almost brought that up but I thought we were talking vanities. Do you ever make 3cm vanities?

Re: Sink Cutouts
99.99% of my work is 3cm and yes I have done 1000s of vanities and most if not all get splash.

Re: Sink Cutouts
4" on Ovals and 4.5" on Rectangular
We also consider the depth of the vanity and wether there is backsplash and what the front overhang is.
Standard Overhang 1.5"
Cabinet 5/8"-3/4"
Sink Flange 3/4"-1.25"
Materiel overhang past sink flange .25"-.5"
So you often have a "minimum" range from 3 1/8"---4"

Re: Sink Cutouts
Weird thing as after I typed that last post our installers called to say the vanity they were installing probably wasn't going to work because the sink was just to deep for the vanity. We had brought the sink right up to within 3/8" of the cabinet front and still the vanity is to small.
So the lesson is check and re-check and always er on the side of caution.

Re: Sink Cutouts
If the sink is even close to being too large we will draw the whole top out in plan on CAD. This included overhang, cabinet base thickness, sink cutout and rim, splash, faucet, etc... Sometimes there are alterations we have to do to the cabinet to get things to fit. Backset is definitely not standard from job to job for us.

Re: Sink Cutouts
We end up with a lot of 19.5-20.5" vanities - we use a 1613 sink instead of the 1714 (k2210) to eliminate most faucet issues.
If the cabinet is less than 19" we'll switch to a 1512 sink

Re: Sink Cutouts
Every job, every sink, gets laid out with rim of sink, faucet holes we drill, escutcheon ring, etc. to make sure everything fits before we go to fabrication. We even template the window sill in the kitchen and note how high up it is to make sure the faucet doesn't hit the window sill. Every sink file we have has the rim drawn in.

Ivd actually been working on redoing the sink files in the zip folder listed in the dxf section. Most of them dont have the rim and i just cant trust them without it

Re: Sink Cutouts
Good question. For most ovals we are 3.8 in set back on 1.5"oh with 21" cabinet(negative reveal)
Each sink is layed out before we cut in cad to account for minor adjustments. A good rule of thumb
I've used as a benchmark is to try and allow for at least 2" from the wall to the back quadrant of a 1.375 faucet hole when using
3 cm splash.
