Seaming white quartz

What are you guys using to clean the white adhesive on a white quartz seam?

When we are using a razor blade to scrape excess glue off it is darkening the white glue and making the seam really stand out.

We make sure the blades are clean i.e wipe the oil and dry before we scrap the seam.

Problem with that is Glass Cleaner is caustic and voids any quartz manufacturers warranty. Also BKF is highly abrasive and also the pH level is too high.

Both cause etching issues either mechanical or chemical

We learned a good trick at a Cambria training seminar. Soak your regular steel razor blades in acetone/denatured before you use them. Apparently it's the oil from the steel that is leaving the color. We seamed a pure white top together, taped both sides of the seam then top filled and scraped. Pure white seam. I was actually quite surprised it worked.

BUY THESE!!! These are pricey but man do they make a world of difference. We stock them and out installers ask for them every time we install a lighter quartz project with a seam. These combined with a seam phantom and decent color matched glue = invisible seams.

Several SFA members have found using ceramic razor blades do not have the oil on them. Never wipe with the same rag twice.
Carmine has posted in the past. That on a piece of Super White Pental Quartz and used Perfect White Integra Glue, They cleaned the pieces with mineral spirits. Put blue tape on either side of the seam, scraped it flat. Then they removed the blue tape. Once the glue was dry, they used soapy water as the lubricant and rubbed it all over the seam. Then rubbedd a white pumice stone over the seam and this is what was produced!
