Looking for a supplier of Black Soapstone. Dorato doesn't carry it, neither do our regular suppliers.
Found some in Denver, but would prefer to find it elsewhere.
Must be solid black with no variations.
AB or quartz is not an option.
Any ideas?

Alternately, we have a slate called New Cardoso in stock that might work.
It does have some faint veins in it.

Re: Black soapstone
It's hard to find plain soapstone period. M. Teixeira is the best place to check in for slabs like this around the country. They have more in stock than most . . . if not anyone in the country. Small blanks or rips of plain soapstone can be found easier than large slabs. If I had some of this material I wouldn't want to sell it . . I'd want to fab it myself. . lol I do have soapstone that has minimal veining, but no veining is really hard to find.
The last large slabs I had that a custy wanted perfect with no veining looked like this, and this is about as good as no veining gets:

wish I got this stone in every container we get. I'd sell it like crazy. It's just hard to find. I have slabs that have minimal veining right now. I always ask people that want no veining how much they are willing to spend to get it. . . I can get it, they just need to wait and spend the money to buy what is not the norm.
Give me a call anytime and I'll let you know what I know about the soapstone market. It's a fun niche market that I just love. . .if New Cardoso is like Pietra Del Cardoso, do your research and make sure you inform your custys of the qualities of this stone before they buy.
