i've got a customer that wants to know the durability of this stone (polished). I did a little scratch test with my keys, but it has flakes so i'm assuming those could be scratched if tried hard enough. It doesn't etch does it? I've got stt sb to put on it, but are there any other issues with this stone that anyone has encountered? I read about checking it for fissures before accepting the stone.

Bryce, must have fabricated twenty kitchens in that material ,had very little problems with it. Small very fine white veins look like cracks but are not. They are totaly acceptable, inherent in the stone. Also repolished surface without issues. good luck

From what I understand it's fragile, however it's beautiful when done.

Great looking when done right. Be careful if you fab by hand it has a lot of soft spots.

If you are hand routering, be careful as it tends to chip out alot on the bottom.....

Make sure you explain this to the customer before you fabricate. We've done enough of it over the years that we don't think to much about it. But occaisionally we'll have a customer complain about those "cracks".

I have it in my bathroom and abuse the hell out of it. Awesome stone. Love the natural fissures and it is easy to restore. Also Bryce, all polished materials will etch in one way or another. Some are just damn hard to etch and you have to go out of your way to do so. This is one of those that is hard to etch.

My Wife's favorite thus, my home is full of it!
Easy to work with, Easy to polish, Some blow-out issues but nothing too dramatic.
