Re: Wanted: Intermac PULL STUDS: ASAP
Mike, I might be able to help you if I knew what "Pull Studs" were????
My intermac is currently shut down so if something from it can help you out, I'll check it out. I have the Intermac Master 43.

I was thinking that same thing but wasn't sure?? We have always called them retention knobs or nipples. If this is them, yes, I believe I should have some on hand.

Re: Wanted: Intermac PULL STUDS: ASAP
I called them nipples, but people corrected me with Pull Studs.
Yes. A bunch of our tools are running 'loose'. Collet is 6 mos. old. Bearings are all good in there...some tools are tight, some are loose. We changed the pull stud on a loose tool with a tight tool and it is now tight...so I want to replace some of our pull studs that seem to be worn, etc.
GQ is 30 a piece. Want cheaper. Any ideas?

Always remember to use Locktight 242 or you will end up with an expensive spindle repair, don't ask me how I know

Mike
I'm heading out of town for the weekend, but if you PM me Monday I'll look to see how many extras we may have... some may be slightly used but may still work. They're just collecting dust in my cabinet so if you can use them, I'll send them!

Re: Wanted: Intermac PULL STUDS: ASAP
They can also be found under Retention Knobs. Find a local machine tool house they may have a line on them. J&L, MRC, Purvis, and others carry them with varied availability. You may not be able to say you have an Intermac and have them know what you are talking about, however if you take a look at the following link:
http://www1.mscdirect.com/Bt-Flange-Ret ... 01129.HTML
Many of the retention knobs listed have measurements that you can compare yours with. Knowing the thread pitch, and putting a caliper to the rest of the dims should get you within a phone call of a local supplier.

If Stu's link is indicative of typical pricing (and the correct part), then $30 seems to be a fair price. Get Rick's if you want a deal, get 'em from GQ if you want guaranteed brand new.

Grainger also has some. I have no idea what size is needed though.
