Re: 2000 Mile Storm
We are all safe.
A couple days off, if you considered shoveling 18" a day off.
Full power, so no real issues.

Come on' Dan, No Snowblower?
I have run ours at least ten times so far this winter.
Fortunately we are too far south to get hit by this one.
It's amazing how nice your neighbors become when there is a foot of snow on the
ground and you are the only one around with a snowblower.

I hear ya there John. But in my case, I bring the Bobcat home. I end up doing my entire neighbourhood, but it's like being 5 years old again driving a Tonka toy!!John McDowell wrote:Come on' Dan, No Snowblower?

For you southerners, a "toque" is a common name for a winter hat.

No snow blower. Shoveling builds character. I have enough &%#)ing character, though. Maybe next year, I do space on my desk now.

Re: 2000 Mile Storm
I don't know where the hell in Oklahoma you would buy a snowblower, but I'd friggin bite after this one!
The snow was the easy part looking back, but after the low temps and the snow drifts froze hard over night it's been a challenge. I got stuck in a drift coming in to the FD this morning and 4 four wheel drive trucks later we got out.
We have been having several roof collapses and waterbreaks at work on new buildings. We apparently skimp on our snow loads too!
In fact about another storm like this next year, I may be moving further South and selling for $29 a sf or putting on a pink shirt!!
The grassfires are at a standstill tho!!

I saw a show the other night that explained why the last few winters have been so bad. It said the reason why we keep having these terrible winter storms is... you guessed it, GLOBAL WARMING
! It said the balmy conditions up in Canada are causing all the snow to melt , blah, blah, blah...

Re: 2000 Mile Storm
Yes we did, I heard that it was even worse in Chicago too. This is what my entire alley looked like. Luckily this was my neighbor's car and not mine. He also forgot to close his garage door overnight so he has a foot or tow of snow in there too. 18" of snow over 24 hours + 60mph winds = huge drifts.Gary Anderson wrote:We got slammed in Milwaukee

Re: 2000 Mile Storm
Davenport Iowa is about the same as what Brian has. I think officially we had 17" of snow....and big winds. Luckily we had NOTHING yesterday afternoon so the plows were able to work on the roads.
But this is what my front door looked like this morning when I came in. Apparently we are last on the landlord's list of commercial buildings as they were just plowing us this morning. I haven't even bothered to go look at the slab storage. It may be April before we can get to our material.

Re: 2000 Mile Storm
14" of snow in Tulsa. All time record for any day. Forget work.
There have been airlifts of bon-bons and moon pies into the central square to quench the needs of the locals.
But, the real problem has been a 14" snowfall and a dog with 13" legs.
Unlike Antonio, he seems to have no desire to drag his junk thru the snow.
This means we have to shovel paths around the yard for nature's purposes. We have dubbed these 'log trails'.

Re: 2000 Mile Storm
Antonio, yeah I remember that. First time I'd ever been to the Dr. where I encountered the use of stirrups.
That was a bag of ice for a couple of days. I was doing estimates in the field the next day.
The one that was really a bytch was the hernia surgery. I remember the nurse leaning over and telling me 'you may have a little swelling in your extremities for a few days...' I'm thinking my feet are plenty big enough. What she really meant was 'you're going be packing evidence of Sasquatch in your shorts for about 3 days.' True dat. And this Uchitel chick kept calling
.
Sorry, Jean. Antonio started it.
