Sunday afternoon while enjoying his day off and riding his motorcycle, Shannon Watts was hit head on by a van trying to beat a red light. He suffered traumatic injuries including dual breaks of the legs arms, clavicles and obviously internal bleeding. After fighting on life support for over a day, he passed Monday night. Shannon was hired by my father right out of tech school as an estimator and moved on to be his right hand as a project manager for tile and stone for 8 years before moving to another company running his own department one year ago, of whom I followed to do work with as well.
Besides being a good friend, and an awesome family man, Shannon was a class act, and a true asset to what we stand for in always raising the bar in our industry, never settling for price over quality. He always did all this with a big smile, which what might have been made working around him so pleasant
He leaves behind his wife and 1 young boy and 2 girls under 5, the youngest only a few months old.
He will be greatly missed and irreplaceable.
I'd like to ask that you send thoughts and prayers out to the Watts family, as they have a tough road ahead and will need them as they try to recreate a new way of life without him.

OMG!!!! Unbelievable sad!!!
It makes me think about all the time I'm driving on the road (at least 4-5 hrs a day driving). More on road = more chance to get accidence, especially in my situation, always feel sleepy while driving
My greatest condolence to his family!

Re: Another sad loss in our industry
Very sad news and a tragic loss indeed. You and the Watts family will certainly be in our prayers, for comfort and for healing from this loss, especially his 3 girls. This kind of news really hits home. It reminds us how fragile life is and helps keeps things in perspective. I pray this post will be a reminder that everyday is a good day to let our families know how much we love them.

Todd,
I'm gathering by your words that you and your family were quite close to this man. Young children.
That's beyond awful. Sorry to hear of the tragedy.

Re: Another sad loss in our industry
There was a delay in my second posting I guess.
We have had unbelievable amounts of calls of people wanting to help Shannon in the local groups. Very cool.
My father spoke to Jen his wife, about some of them, and she shared with him that Shannon had laid out a very nice plan for them, and even had a rainy day fund, so she wouldn't even feel right taking money from people if it could keep someone else from getting it.
As sad and tragic as this has been, it it wonderful to hear this and just goes to show what kind of class act he was and his family continues to be.
Shannon was also an organ donor, and his liver was sucessfully transplanted on Tuesday evening.
So just keep the thoughts and prayers coming and thank you all.

Some good news from out of the bad. I've checked the box on my driver's license and urge others to do the same.
Keep strong through this tough time.
