Anyone know where to get replacement cams for Gorilla Grips other than Regent? They have been on back order for a long time.

Re: Gorilla Grip cams
Try another vendor, like Monument Tool Works, they make the Gorilla Grips. Can these be made by duplicating existing cams with a similar material? What material are the cams actually made out?

Re: Gorilla Grip cams
We have always bought direct from Monument, but you could probably get them duplicated with another material... possibly some plastic, like corian, maybe.

Re: Gorilla Grip cams
I will do that, we called for 2 weeks, and never could get anyone. I think they were in Italy at the time. So we called Regent and still no cams
.

Re: Gorilla Grip cams
The cams are made from this material or similar. It is good stuff for many purposes. Building fixture plates, insulating electrical components, etc. Strong and durable unless you keep glueing poly to it.

Re: Gorilla Grip cams
To extend the life of those cams (and most of you may know this; we learned the hard way
) have your installers mist them with a little water before working them onto the clamp. The water lubricates the cam enough to allow it to slide on to the clamp smoothly.

Re: Gorilla Grip cams
Clean the epoxy off from the bars and outside of the cam. Lumps on the cam make it very hard to turn the cam. I have some installers out there who have never broken a cam. One tiny drop of oil for all of the bars works wounders too. Put that one drop on your finger and rub the bars with it.
Also just put on another employee to speed production up.

Re: Gorilla Grip cams
I wondered why the cams broke. We have four sets of Gorilla Grips and have never broken a cam. A box or two, maybe
but never a cam. I KNOW how the boxes were broken
It certainly had nothing to do with Monument Tool, more with carelessness on our end. Kind of like the cams, now that I see it in writing.

Re: Gorilla Grip cams
Agree!
We abuse tools alot (not taking care of them, not having the right vehicle when transport them to job site, not so organized, etc...). But my gorilla grips still in mint condition.
Just saying!
