Stone Cleaners
Just wanted to ask what you guys recommend or give your customers for cleaning stone. For the last few years since I fabbed my first top I have been using Stonetech Revitalizer - no special reason other than the pack that I got at Galaxy tool supply came with a spray bottle, a 1 gallon container and some wipes. I have been getting that since but it is almost time for a new supply as I've almost run out. I saw an ad in a stone mag for Lustrano?? I think - the bottle and label looked nice but seems a lot more expensive than the stuff I was getting before. So I thought I would ask for people's input on what good cleaners are out there.

Re: Stone Cleaners
Been wondering about this as well. We've been selling the Stonetech/Dupont Revitalizer for quite some time now, I can't even recall how we were introduced to the product.
I've been using it in my personal kitchen, it hasn't been sealed in 5-6years (since install, GQ 413S). We use the Revitalizer probably once every 3-6weeks depending on how much we are home/how much the kitchen is used. No issues so far, I do have a tendency to make one hell of a mess whenever I try anything in the kitchen, haha.

Re: Stone Cleaners
we've been offering MARBAMIST from Stone Care International for some time now. We're very happy with it. As far as my home granite, the wife uses pledge or a mild soap...its all good

Re: Stone Cleaners
theres a lot of good ones out there. EZCLN is still my favorite. Stonetech, Tenax Lustro Italiano is good etc.
I prefer to stay away from the "clean and seal", "clean and polish" type of cleaners. they tend to leave a residue or film over time.

Hey Cameron - what kind of cleaners are you referring to when you say "clean and seal" or "clean and polish". Can you give some examples?Stone Dude wrote:theres a lot of good ones out there. EZCLN is still my favorite. Stonetech, Tenax Lustro Italiano is good etc.

Re: Stone Cleaners
typically the stuff from Home Depot, the Granite Gold crap. I just stay away from anything at home depot.

Re: Stone Cleaners
The 3 in 1 from GQ will build up over time also. Any neutral cleaner will work well.

Re: Stone Cleaners
I have not heard of that stuff. I've never had a residue from the Stonetech stuff but I do find that if you really want the surface to shine after applying the cleaner buffing with a microfiber cloth works well.Stone Dude wrote:typically the stuff from Home Depot, the Granite Gold crap. As for Home Depot in general - I assume you are just referring to stone and stone supplies. I never buy anything there related to stone. But I have to say that a lot of their stuff for other things such as plumbing and masonry are good and competitively priced. In a lot of cases I've found their prices to be a lot better than construction or plumbing supply places. I only go to a specialist place if I need something that they cannot source - which in my case does happen from time to time. One example if you look at plumbing is that they only stock popular or common fittings. Also you cannot buy CSST. With masonry if you need any special admixtures or forms you need to go to the construction supply places.

I agree with everything you said. Stonetech cleaners are fine, they work well.

Re: Stone Cleaners
Been a while since I have used stonetech revitalizer but it used to have some sealer in it - maybe they changed it in the last 5 years since I stopped using it. I have only been using Lustro for 5 years on my stone in my house. It is expensive for the bottle size but it also goes a long way. We use 1 bottle every 6-9 months and I have about 4 slabs worth of stone in my home plus granite or travertine floors in the bathrooms.
