Re: LOW V.O.C.
Use adequate ventilation such as air extraction and room being sealed off. Most of the time you will be able to read it on the label what to do.

Re: LOW V.O.C.
Some Epoxies are solvent-free or contain VOC-exempt solvents. They stink like hell, but VOCs aren't there. In our industry most of the Poly & Epoxy resins are customized for different applications and may contain some amount of solvent that might contribute to VOC emissions. You've got to check the MSDS of whatever brands you prefer to see how they stack up.Anylastwords wrote:I have a client coming up that is highly allergic to certain smells. my question is what do you guys recommend as a low v.o.c. product, such as epoxy, sealers and such?

Sealers........All STT Sealers are low-odor and compliant with US Federal VOC regulations and can be shipped into all 50 states. Check carefully with other manufacturers. In order to comply with Federal regulations, some manufacturers are limited to the allowable size of the container for inter-state shipping (usually one quart max container size, but you can purchase multiples).

theres a gentleman named David Bonasera who is very active with this stuff. iw ill see if I can get his attention to this thread.
STT sealers have pretty much no odor and work very well.

Re: LOW V.O.C.
VOC and odor are two separate things. You can have a product that's technically zero-voc, but smells bad. (Don't ask me to explain, it has to do with with government definitions. Sorta like "depends on what your definition of "is", is...")
But, regardless.... our Touchstone epoxies are very low odor, and the best of the bunch, by far, is our Express II series--either Flowing or Knife Grade. Not only are they the fastest-curing, clearest epoxies out there, they have the least odor of ANY epoxy that I have encountered in over 25 years of working with epoxy chemistry. Your client will not believe the lack of aroma with Express II.
Not sure about the sealers, I'd trust what the other experts have said...
Good luck!
