Well guys, I must tell you all. I took a pain pill for the first time in my life. I have two stones, one is 3mm and the other is 1.6 cm..........ouch! I've had them for about 18 months now. I just dealt with the pain and it was something that I could handle. Yesterday I had to go in for a lithotripsy where they try and bread the stones up. They put you out to do it. I hate being put out. I puke and I am really hard to come out of it. Well they did it and I went home last night and thought I was in hell. Between the puking, being in a daze from the drugs they use to having these stones feel like they were coming through my back all night to not be able to pee, I was just about at the end of my fight. My wife is an RN, thank God. She had to give me a catheter to release the pressure and that was not too nice either. If any of you guys had this done i am assuming you know what I am talking about. Now I;m peeing into a strainer to see what comes out. They told me I got them from being dehydrated. So, a word to the wise.........DRINK WATER..DRINK DRINK DRINK. This sucks and I have a really high pain tolerance. Just a bit of advice for the boys.

Chris
I hope you get rid of those quick. I have not had that misfortune yet and hope I do not. I have had several friends that went through that but I dont think theirs was big as that.

Re: KIDNEY STONES
Thanks Joshua, I just got back from the hospital again. Called my Dr; who is a friend, expressed me right in to the OR! He had to put a stent in due to all the broken fragments of that large stone blocking everything up. Today is Sunday and I've been tortured since Thursday. My wife told me to go on Friday. She said it is not normal to be in constant pain after the procedure. Of course, we know best.............wrong! I should have listened to her. I was about to go into kidney failure. My coratinin(sp) levels were very bad. It was causing a snowball effect of all kinds of things. Present time I am pain free in the kidney and ate for the first time since Thursday. I lost 8 lbs. of good muscle. Having a stent is not the most comfortable thing but it beats the hell out of what i was dealing with the last few days. Just a heads up, again, drink lots of water and listen the the people who know their fields.

Chris I hope you feel better. I can only imagine what you are feeling with.. As a boxer I would imagine pain doesnt generally bother you so this must be excruciating. I know Carmine had stone in the fall..
Godspeed recovery.

Re: KIDNEY STONES
Oh what timing.....I was in the hospital Saturday night for this exact same thing. I can not express in words the pain these spikey little f**kers cause. Cat Scan showed 1 big one, which has since passed and a few "fragments". The good news is I was able to catch(strain) the stone so it's off for testing. A diet change is forth coming as soon as the results are back. Good luck mate with yours, I know what your going through.

I've had them 3 times...with the last needing surgical removal. My doctor said that diet is a minor factor. The biggest thing you can do is drink lots of water EVERY DAY!!!!! 2 Liters is what he recommends since it is an easily measured amount (just fill a 2L bottle every morning and by the end of the day, it should be gone)CNG wrote:A diet change is forth coming as soon as the results are back.

Re: KIDNEY STONES
Hope all is well Chris. I went through this last Fall and am still dealing with tests. From all the blood work trying to figure out things, they found an issue with one of my Thyroid glands and think that is what helped form my kidney stones. In the end they all keep saying the same thing...DRINK WATER

That is what my dr prescribed
I was able to pass mine a few years ago but i wish they would have put me out and remove them. Felt like some one was kicking me in the nads over and over.
