Saw this and thought about you guys.
Do you figure the fish got hung up on an outrigger? Or they were backing up and took water over the stern?
Or maybe both at the same time?
Or maybe it is a hoax.
I did not listen to the audio, just saw the pics.

Re: Careful Brian B !!! Round 1 to the Marlin
Capt was backing down on the fish and fell, he hit the throttles and drove the stern in harder than expected. Got on such a steep angle so fast that he couldnt recover before swamping. All people recovered safe.

Re: Careful Brian B !!! Round 1 to the Marlin
That reminds me of seing fishermen off the island Azores harpooning whales (big ass ones) from a rowing boat
sometimes the whale won.

Re: Careful Brian B !!! Round 1 to the Marlin
Harpooning ken is serious stuff, that is all man vs. fish. As David said, this is all captain. It sounds cool to say the marlin sunk them, but the marlin can only apply the maximum pressure of either the drag on the reel, or the line strength in case of drag failure. Most Marin drags are set to about 20lbs, so, no 20lbs of pull would not sink a boat......but poor captaining will.
My son however, loved this and in his eyes, the marlin took her down. And I couldn't disappoint his excitement with science
, so in house, the marlin sink the boat

I just saw this post Chris.
That video freaked me out too. The boat looks eerily familiar as its going down.
If we ever hook a billfish, it's not gonna happen like that!
Does it make you wanna go out again?

Next time you go out, let me know' and Iw ill just show up and clean the boat when you get back.....
I owe you that
Best advice EVER from your Dad " Son , when you puke, puke off the back of the boat where everybody is. If you fall off the front of the boat while puking we might not know it......"
Not a great day for my man card.....

I always used to tell the green horns that when on night watch to piss in their pants rather than over the side, 1. it will get them warm 2. it will keep them alive

It's always a blast! For us it's a 3 hr boat ride before we're in the gulfstream though.
We haven't been out in a while, and I'm really missing that deep blue water.

Toooo Funny. I was topside and very close to throwing up. Keep in mind, I am usually the one making fun of the sea sick guy and not the sea sick guy.
Too much coffe and too little breakfeast.
I was headed down below to lay down on a bunk and maybe shake off the bad shape I was in........Then someone sticks a rod in my gut and says...."you have a fish on......." Talk about mixed emotions
