More Affordable Care info

As it looks now 30,000,000 poor people will not qualify for ObamaCare. That was the consensus number of uninsured between dem & rep before health care reform.

Original projected cost $ 900 billion. Newer projection $ 3 trillion, more than triple the original.

Members of Congress are grumbling that they can not afford health care under this program. These people have free travel, free food, free gym, free office and staff, housing allowance, etc, (compliments of the taxpayer), along with triple digit salaries AND THEY CAN NOT AFFORD IT!?!?! How does the guy making $50,000 with a family afford it? Or the people making less ( a lot of people make $30k or less).

More government control. They create a crisis, then "save us". Is the public that stupid?

IRS fines for having no insurance? Forcing people to buy something ? What happened to freedom of choice? What is next only Pepsi, no Coke?

What happened to the great spirit that made America great? Are we all that willing to give up freedoms, so someone else can make our lives easier for us ? A perpetual nanny state is not the answer, ask Cuba.

More IRS agents to enforce health care! The IRS is the only entity that can confiscate private money with out due process. They can out seize what they want. Do not believe it is only to be used against criminals and terrorists. It will be applied evenly across the population as the government sees fit, for their benefit (not ours).

Both major parties are bought and paid for. They ave no interest in the good of all, just their own enrichment, at our expense. These guys vote their checkbook, regularly selling their constituents down the road for some trinkets and baubles.

:goodpost:

Everything that is going on now is just gut wrenching. Makes me about puke thinking about it.

And with all the "scandals" that are in the news, what's priority number one in Washington????? Immigration "reform".....can you call it reform when you forgive the criminals of something that they have illegally done?

They will soon start checking the size of toilet paper sheets. :)

Jokes aside. The IRS is walking the rope of Big Brother watching. Their is an extension that you all don't notice called FATCA. While the political rhetoric is shutting down the multimillion dollar hidden money in tax havens it is also affecting the majority of American who are legitimate workers.

The level of reporting that they are requiring of foreign companies with some bureaucratic BS red tape is having an adverse affects. There are now companies not hiring Americans for Senior positions because if they have signing authority there is an IRS level of disclosure required. Similarly some Banks are not accepting US citizens. Also I believe that they are instructing companies to with hold I believe 40% on any charges made on credit cards to foreign companies until they can confirm that the foreign company is not owned by a US citizens. So hotels are out of pocket for extended periods of time. And as you know the IRS does not work too swift. Then to return the favour European countries are implementing DATCA.

I just made a purchase from a company in the US and they charged me 3% because the VISA credit card was drawn on a foreign bank.

In short It is a pain to deal with the US now. When DATCA kicks in US companies are going to be burdened with extra reporting.

So the fun is now beginning with the IRS. Govt world over will not address their excessive spend and as an alternative are stifling business in their quest for additional "revenue". The reasons is that one affects their vote attainment. I do not have a fond outlook picture for the Global perspective.

The level of ignorance and stupidity within the voting population is sad. The sheeple are so easily manipulated. What pisses me off way more are seemingly intelligent people who think a 2,000 page health care bill is a good idea  Then they'll say it is better than nothing or we have to do something. Critical thinking seems to be a lost art.

There may be someone in the Government monitoring this site. We now have to think twice before speaking our opinion for fear of being audited........ or worse!

Steven,

Honestly, I think it's beyond now the ignorance of voters. It is bi partisan incompetence and organizational mismanagement at a macro level not necessarily controlled within the constraints of the two dysfunctional parties.

(IMHO)

I have had more arguments then I care to mention with friends and acquaintances that a businesslike approach to expenditures is needed in all areas of government, with most funds going to that which has the best possibility for return.

This government we have works like a child who you give lunch money, and buys candy, and then robs your wallet to pay for lunch and yet somehow convinces you to that trusting them with higher cost things would result in better management. Dog don't hunt.

Left, right, up, down, we all work and watch it whizzed away. We can convince ourselves a change of leadership might reverse the situation, but it's really a bigger philosophical change needed, and not the one that we're in the midst of.
The basic thing a gov't must do is to have a budget (accurate or not, very basic) and they can't do it. So what are they for then? ding ding ding...

I guess we can assume these stats are as valid as anyone else's. This was part of an article discussing how France's healthcare system, arguably the most Socialist country in the world, outperforms ours and costs significantly less.

Where's my refund check? My premiums have gone up more than 20% over the last two years. Those facts are not debatable.

Come on... that article was so lame. Raise health care by 4 billion and then give back 2 billion and call it a savings  Yup, exactly how Obama has been cutting gov't spending... by cutting the planned increases and calling it savings or a reduction in spending.

If gov't can do such a better job with such an important field as health care why not have them do everything. The granite business has got to be easier to run than health care. I'm sure they could do a better job and be more efficient...right! And yet we all know they could not. We all know that it would be horribly expensive, inefficient and bloated with waste. Yet take a more complicated business such as heath care and your expectation is they can do a better job?

I don't look at this debate as Liberal vs Republican. I look at it from a perspective of free enterprise (capitalism) vs socialism. Which model produces the best results. History has the answer.

Americans are stupid for the most part. We buy into fear! and for the most part we have a serious case of A.D.D. and most of us have lost our desire to fight the overwhelming mountain of bull Shit.. This go's far beyond the health care issue. We have waives of poorly educated lazy people that jump on band wagons simply based on key words and phrases. Without knowing or understanding what exactly it is they are jeering for. How many people do you think vote every year for some one just because they are democrat or republican. How many people do you think voted for Obama simply because he was different!

My point is fixing things starts with education. Trouthfull education. We are supposedly the worlds greatest country but we aren't even in the top 10 list for education. How can we fix any thing if the larger portion of the population does not even know what it is they have lost!
