Pental Glass2
Just recently received a 3cm slab of Pental's Glass2... Never worked with the stuff before, curious if anyone else has? Brochure that came with the slab tells me not to use segmented tools and to start a profile with Diamond 2. I'll get a chance to demo a piece before the job but uncertain how I'm going to mill this stuff... Is there a special mill bit for glass I need to get? I only have segmented routers. Any help?

Re: Pental Glass2
We just did a job of this stuff 2 weeks ago, We used cnc tooling no problem. But we also cut this stuff on a piece of plywood at the saw to make sure the table was flat, per their recommendations. Continuous rim blade is recommended. Of course we used the Terminator zoom porcelain continuous rim blade and then we went straight to cnc. It came out nice and the edge was eased top and bottom. You did not mention if you have a cnc or not but the segmented tools are not recommended when you are doing ogees and more complicated profiles. In my experience you probably could run ogees and the likes but you would have to step cut your segmented diamonds and then leave a little more than normal for your diamond 2-4 to remove so it is not chippy. This because if you were to run them as normal you would distress the material and the fissures would start to open. when your done you will have to fill the small holes in the edge. Just use what they recommend for filler, I think acrylic is what we used, and the fabricator stated that it was very easy to polish with just traditional 7 step pads.

Thanks Eric and yes I will be using CNC tooling. We were also told to lay plywood down on the bridge saw and make sure the slab was completely flat... Doing a Raised bar for the customer and its Definitely not going to be straight shots.. Edge wise I believe shes leaning towards Bullnose... When you ran it on your CNC did you tool it with any finger bits?

Yes, we ran the sink cutout as normal and had no problems. Make sure your core drill is a continous rim type (all thinwalls pretty much are). Not trying to sound like a salesmen here but it was our knockout finger bit we used and we didn't notice anything different in our test piece nor the real thing. We have a procedure for the core bit to stay away a minimum 2" from the face of the sink and we did notice larger than normal blowout when we drilled the thru hole for the router bit.
